Following the revelation of a brand new flight simulator from Microsoft Studios this summer, simply known as Microsoft Flight, the studio has begun the process allowing gamers to apply for beta access to the videogame. Set to launch next year, the beta testing phase is currently expected to take place in January 2012.

To understand exactly what went wrong with Flight, one needs to understand the series’ development history. Many aspects of the Flight Simulator engine were gradually improved, seeing advances with every release, being built upon the previous game little by little. Indeed, the last public release of the traditional Flight Simulator engine was a long descendant from the original Microsoft Flight Simulator release in 1982.
MS really screwed up with PC gaming in general. Its fortunate that we don't need them as the platform is open to all.
Microsoft Studios has released a new update for free-to-play simulator Microsoft Flight; game owners can download the update on Steam now. This update fixes a crash and addresses a Windows 8 compatibility issue.
