The nominees for Destructoid Game of the Year 2011

This was an amazing year for videogames. So amazing, in fact, that it was really hard to pick the nominees for Destructoid Game of the Year. There were so many good games released in 2011 across different genres and platforms, that we almost just nominated all of them.

But that would have been kind of a lot, so we pulled it together and settled on a final five.

U3 was a pretty big let down story-wise, lots of unanswered questions and some parts weren't even necessary to the story. action-wise the game was pretty amazing. SS should be on there though, game is probably my goty.

I really enjoyed Deus Ex and Dead Space 2, but there is no reason those should be on there instead of Uncharted 3.

Agree with you on Deus Ex, but Dead Space 2 was one of the best games of the year. It's sad that it won't get a lot of consideration for GOTY because it released in January.

Deus Ex:HR was easily my favorite not-in-severe-need-of-patching game this year. Definitely deserves to be in the nominations.

Can we stop with the Uncharted man love its out of control on N4G.

Although they did play it safe not a single exclusive.

PS, before everyone hates me an not saying uncharted doesn't deserve to be on this list.

Hard to believe...especially on N4G.COM but there were actually better games in 2011 than Uncharted 3...

I know what I just said is blasphemy on this site not saying Game of the Century for Uncharted 3 but yes, there are OTHER games on N4G.COM besides Uncharted 3...

Dead Space 2 was brilliant. Easily the best survival horror game this gen.

I loved both DS1 and DS2 but I would award "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" the best survival horror game this gen.

good list IMHO except of dues ex. played it but didnt love it

personally I would swap duex ex for gears 3 as i love the MP so much .

Playing through UC3 at the moment . just finsihed the boat level . really well written, looks great and polished but sorry its almost not a game to me. so much of it has no play choices.feels like a quicktime game . the climbing looks great but there's 1 obvious path to take. even the shinking ship scene which mixed it up a little still was all straight forward .

and the shooting controls are up there with GTA games at times for being bad

and teh fightign is ok but how many times will I have exactly the same fight agaisnt the big dude ?

from what I've played UC3 is a great game but not GOTY material
