WOW has some serious competition this time

Saryk4521d ago

I'm shocked that the USA SWTOR preorders are that low. I would have thought it would be at least 2 million.

Vaud-Villian4521d ago

WoW was at about 240k when it released. I'd say it's a good start.

Saryk4521d ago

You’re talking years ago, so yes low numbers. But with COD selling record numbers in the millions and this is a Bioware/EA/Lucas Arts $150 million project. I would have though it would have sold more. I got my two copies and I love the game play in Beta and I can't wait until it releases.

MMOs are absolutely 100% not front weighted in sales like console games or Shooters. It will sell MUCH more in time. 1 million just USA is a very successful starting point and the game is stated to only need 500,000 subscribers to be profitable

fluffydelusions4521d ago (Edited 4521d ago )

This is retail only. Tons of digital ones don't forget. I know mine is digital since if you preorder from Origin you get early access which a lot of people did. I guess we will know soon enough though.

Prophet-Gamer4521d ago

Only in this gen do people go around saying 1 million PREORDERS is "too low" *sigh*

Seriously....

Saryk4521d ago

I’m not saying that one million subscribers is low. I am saying that with the franchise of Star Wars and the company Bioware, I would have thought it would have been more, that’s it. I thought the preorders took into account the digital side of it also…….

I wouldn't really trust these numbers to much guys it is vgchartz.com we all know how accurate they are lol -_-

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.

He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.
