Valve "announcing something with a three in it" at E3 2012

A group of playful internet users have been communicating with Valve’s Gabe Newell – and they claim Valve’s boss has confirmed there’ll be “something with a three in it” announced at E3. Half-Life 3, anyone?

I'd only be happy with L4D3 if they brought back the old survivors and the dark, gloom and doom that was found in L4D

But...But...Whitelightning in the comic and DLC the survivors got away to saftey in Flordia and Bill is dead...

Well....three things to point out

We don't know if Flordia is safe
They can team up with someone to replace Bill

or....my favorite one which will never happen

Valve will come out and say that the DLC The Passing and The Sacrafice were just an alternative world in which "What if" the survivors went South instead of North to Cananda where they were heading the first place. It then means Bill will still be alive........and by the way the voice actor is still alive and kicking, he's not dead, he's not in jail and he's not in a mental hospital, they got rid of Bill so they could kill of L4D once and for all so they didn't have to update it anymore with the whole L4D/L4D2 thing that went on.

I hope they bring back the old survivors, they were amazing.....I'd be pretty mad if they use L4D2s characters.

I may be in the minority here, but I'd rather have L4D3 than Half Life 3. I never could get much into Half Life. Not sure why...it felt like just another linear FPS to me.

I don't know I think it's better then 99% of the FPS realesed today,it's not really a sandbox game but it feels like it when you play it on some levels I dought frosty pants beat the game and the episodes HL2 was slow to get but once you got further it was like an experiance I've never had before everything was just so beautifully done and perfect.there was so much mystery like with G-man and that part when you get pushed down the floor and no one was there so you don't know who pushed you(I think it was G-man but who knows) theres a lot of things to enjoy about half life I just don't get the same feelings with most games.any one who hasn't played it really should the orange box is pretty cheap now a days and it's a must buy for PC,360,PS3 just play it and enjoy! :P

and really L4D is linear as well.L4D and HL are good games linear or not.A game being linear isn't always a bad thing.

The only things I didn't mention are DotA and Counter-Strike. DotA 2 is coming out soon, so a new game announced in the series after that could be DotA 3, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the 2nd true game in the franchise, so if they wanted to announce another one coming after that, it could be called Counter-Strike 3 as well. All of their franchises could have a new iteration with a 3 in the title.

They backtracked right after they said that and clarified that it didn't mean Episode 3 wasn't happening, it just meant it wasn't something they were going to try out again. I see this brought up so often in discussion about Half-Life 3, but Valve themselves have already clarified that it doesn't affect existing episodic franchises.

I'm of this opinion also. The average gaming pc now is many times faster than consoles and we all know that the half life franchise kicks off next gen.

Imo however physics and destruction will be the two driving forces of next gen. We have great physics now but its very rough and very minimal. I mean u can point to games like crysis but in almost all instances objects in water show us how advanced we really are.

I pushed a 8ft concrete cylinder in water in crysis 2 and it just floated and spun.

Have you played Left 4 Dead, it's one of the best co-op experiences to date, and there's a reason why people still faithfully play the first and second game online to this day. The same thing cannot be said about the Orange Box. Try not to downplay any Valve game.

There's no need for a L4D Trilogy on PS3. L4D 2 had a couple of the maps for L4D 1, and I'm sure it would be easy for them to integrate all the maps via Steam into the PS3 version of L4D 3 if it comes to the PS3 which is likely sue to Valve's recent change of heart.

It could be any of their games, and honestly I hope it's Left 4 Dead 3. The next Half Life can wait once they update the Steam engine.
