Main Bayonetta developers not involved with Metal Gear Rising game

SEGAbits: "You know you saw all that hype that the developers from Bayonetta are working on Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance. Its a half truth, Platinum Games are developing the Metal Gear Solid Rising title, but that doesn’t mean that the main people behind Bayonetta have already jumped on board. First of all, director Kamiya has not been announced as working on the project. He basically is the man behind Bayonetta, he directed it. That is the reason the game was so hyped."

In other words, the combat will not flow as good as Bayonetta's did.

DeathAvengers4525d ago

Or better? Why jump to conclusions.

dark-hollow4525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

Its n4g. 90% of the news here are jumping to conclusions!

rabidpancakeburglar4525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

Argh, tried to ignore it but can't. It's as well not as good. Can't say I'm bothered if it isn't the main team as bayonetta is not a game that I ever had an interest in buying.

Hmmm 3 disagrees, I can't tell if people don't like the fact that I didn't want to get bayonetta or if they hate grammar nazis.

RockmanII74525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

If you don't have interest in the game, why are you reading news articles about it? Lol JK misread your post carry on.

scofios4525d ago

Kamiya is not involved.
Shinji Mikami won't be either he Only did vanquish for platinium.
He is now working on a game for ZeniMax Media.
Which has acquired his studio Tango Gameworks .
But there is still plenty of talent at Platinium Games.

Taz Yamauchi4524d ago

Seems like key people don't want involvement in this game so why should I

sounds good to me actually. I heavily disliked Bayonetta. Aside from the fluid combat, the story and characters were ridiculously stupid. And as a Metal Gear fan i hope that Platinum games does not make the same mistake with Rising. Bayonetta director Kamiya not being on board is a step in the right direction.

UltimateIdiot9114525d ago

I never tried Bayonetta so I can't say but Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and the first DMC. Those I do enjoy so I wouldn't dismiss Kamiya's ability.

firelogic4525d ago

Based on the trailer, you're not going to get anything different. You're sure as hell not going to get a true MGS style of story or characterization. MGS games have always been serious with quirks. This looks over the top cheese. I loved that in Bayonetta and Vanquish, but not in a MG game.

Yui_Suzumiya4525d ago (Edited 4525d ago )

KojimaPro is in charge of story and cut-scenes..

erathaol4525d ago

I can only sit and wait to see what happens with this. Crossing my fingers that this makes Raiden look good in the end.

firelogic4524d ago (Edited 4524d ago )

KojiPro may be doing the cutscenes, but they aren't in charge of what goes in them or the story. It was already revealed that Platinum Games scrapped KojiPro's initial story and started from scratch as they like to set the story first and then match the gameplay with it.

Not to mention it's Platinum's b-team. Kamiya isn't even working on it.

rezzah4525d ago

The cut-scenes are rather dull, but of course what it is known for is its action/gameplay.

rezzah4525d ago

Didn't they say Bayoneta 2 was in development?

If I am right then that is the reason why they are not part of MGR.

Yui_Suzumiya4524d ago

There's been lots of hints dropped by Kamiya through out this year.

krontaar4525d ago

that's a shame, they really know how to make fluid combat.

guess we'll have to wait and see.

Codeman4204525d ago

like how the article stats its metal gear solid rising. they changed the name to metal gear rising its a differnt style of game and therefore isnt in the MGS universe. yes its after MGS4 but it looks like its oign to be a DMC style game so probably no stealth to it wat so ever.

Hideki Kamiya On Why He Left PlatinumGames, His YouTube Channel, and His Next Game

In a wide-ranging interview with IGN, game developer legend Hideki Kamiya reveals why he left Bayonetta maker PlatinumGames and what's next.

darthv72138d ago

Long shot here but with him out of the picture... MS could get PG to finish Scalebound. As it is, the project was shelved and Ms still had all the work they had done up to that point. HK's mismanagement of multiple projects is what caused MS to pull the plug, but I feel they still wanted to get it done at some point.

gold_drake136d ago

if MS hasnt picked it up yet,it will never return. it was cancelled in 2017. 6 years ago.

MS owns the IP, not PlatinumGames.

Cacabunga136d ago

I have been waiting for a new Vanquish for a long time!! I barely imagine how the result could be on PS5

isarai138d ago

Sounds like Tencent influence was something he wasn't down with.

Levii_92137d ago

Sorry, you have been blocked by Hideki Kamiya. ❌

Zenzuu137d ago

“My work with Platinum Games was based on a relationship of trust with the company. I decided to leave because I felt that the direction the company was heading in was different from my beliefs as a developer. Without that element of trust, I couldn’t continue working there, and so I left, so that I could continue working in what I consider to be the right way.

“I don't think of games as products, but rather as works of art. I want to put my artistry into games and deliver games that could only be made by Hideki Kamiya, so that players can enjoy Hideki Kamiya games exactly as they are. I decided to leave the company and forge my own path, to continue making games that reflect the developers who made them.”

Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023

Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023.

-Mika-219d ago

Phil better have that check ready. Hideki expertise and knowledge would be a great asset to the Xbox team and can possibly bring growth in the Asia region.

VersusDMC219d ago

Phil already canceled a Kamiya game(Scalebound) so we know he doesn't have the check ready. And that check couldn't keep Shinji Mikami there either...but maybe?

CrimsonWing69219d ago

I’m still bitter about that cancellation. Even if it was in dev hell he could’ve given it to an internal studio.

Obscure_Observer218d ago

@CrimsonWing69

"I’m still bitter about that cancellation. Even if it was in dev hell he could’ve given it to an internal studio."

Are you crazy???

That would be extremely disrespectful!

Michiel1989218d ago

@obscure as if one of ms's own studios would know how to get the game out the door in a great way. Remember what happened when they did that with Duke Nukem Forever?

20nmrtnz219d ago

Tencent and Netease around the corner: Bonjour!

AdonisIsBeast218d ago (Edited 218d ago )

Was the 69 billion dollar acquisition plus 8 billion for Zenimax not enough lol?

-Foxtrot219d ago

How sudden, I wonder what changed.

Maybe after the certain story choices and direction for Bayonetta 3 they can hopefully make it more like the first two games.

justsomeoffdude219d ago

i've always felt platinum games lack of growth/failures can be traced back to kamiya. He seems like a very troublesome person to work with
