Belkin launch 2-to-1 HDMI switcher

Belkin has announced a 2-to-1 video switching device for HDMI users running out of sockets on the back of their televisions.

The new device simply called the Belkin HDMI 2-to-1 Video Switch Connects promises to link two HD devices, such as your HD-DVD player and your video-game console, to your HD TV through a single HDMI or DVI connection.

havent these been available for some time now?

Apocwhen5999d ago

I'm sure they have but It's a new Belkin product so it's news.

I like this bit though "The device is powered by HDMI cable connection to HDTV."

I hate it when some of those switcher boxes require an external power cable to function.

Please explain.. This is absolutely nothing new. It's not a review, so we don't even find out if this thing is any good or not.

....Oh games have been released before! that means every game is nothing new right?

just because some thing isn't new doesn't mean squat, if you dont like news then leave, but this is news worthy, its about tv tech, and thats important to gamers, this is not JUST A gameing site because stuff important to gamers is pc's, consoles, tvs, surround sound systems...tech....

Oh and front page? heres the deal about front page.....when a news article gets above 50 degrees it goes to the front page...so its your own fault it went to the front page.

OH and i must add...17 approvals...JamieSI (10) - 2 hours ago an admin....hmmmm

and mighty you need to learn about n4g.com when a news article gets 50 degrees it AUTOMATICALLY goes to the front page, understand?

mighty_douche5999d ago (Edited 5999d ago )

i think he just trying to say that this isnt exactly gaming news is it? and yes i know its in the Tech section where it should be, but thats where this type of "news" should stay, there no need for this on the Home page (yes i know you have nothing to do with it getting there).

its a HDMI switcher mate, how ever you look at it, its not gaming.

Apocwhen5999d ago (Edited 5999d ago )

HDMI Switchers are useful for people with a 360 and PS3 and only 1 HDMI port on the TV.

HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray isn't gaming news either but it's still here and people like to follow it.

mighty_douche5999d ago

dude i realise this is useful for people who fit your bill of both consoles with 1 HDMI port, but dont you think those people would look into a switcher themselves? i doubt they would use GAMING websites in hopes of an answer.

I was considering getting one of these, but I heard there was a noticeable loss of video quality; can anyone clear this up?

It's good SLI is dead and buried - and my wallet agrees

Kevin writes: "Multi-GPU gaming was one of those things that seemed like a good idea for as long as it lasted. I mean honestly, the idea of a modular approach to graphics upgrades – be that SLI or CrossFire – was brilliant. I repeat, the idea was brilliant."

darthv725d ago

Im old school... when i hear the term SLI, I immediately think of 3dfx. I still have a pair of 12mb Monster V2's in an old rig. I never tried out the more modern take on SLI or Crossfire for that matter.

I mean, it was mostly for bragging rights. It was a very temperamental tech that improved with newer iterations, for sure. But folks like myself, who have used it, probably recall that troubleshooting was an integral part of the experience and the value that you got out of the setup was really low.

However, none of that mattered because it looked sick as hell on a well-built PC.

Wretchedstain4d ago

I remember doing my research at the time 😂 I got 2 GTX 460's, as they in SLI were meant to be better than the 480 at the time. Not all games were optimised at the time, which meant some games meant setting them up for 1 card alone. Never forget the time I came home from night shift, turned on my computer like normal, went and made a cuppa, come back and it was still off. Tried to turn on again, and one of the 460's caught fire... good times.

shaenoide4d ago

Why ? For the price of two SLI cards you only get one RqtX card now...

OpenGL4d ago

Exactly what I was thinking. When SLI was around an Nvidia flagship card was $700, less than half the price of their current flagship.
