Jurassic Park: The Game Review (Crush Frag Destroy)

CFD!'s Rob Rich returns to Isla Nublar in the new Telltale Games release:

"It may have taken more than a few liberties with both the source material (and, you know, scientific fact), but Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park was one hell of a movie. It spawned its share of video game spin-offs as most semi-popular movies tend to do, but they were mostly derivative platformers or crappy fighting games (seriously, WTF was up with that one??). 18 years later–seriously, 18 years–we’ve finally gotten a worthwhile interactive media adaptation. Leave it to Telltale to do a franchise proud."

Hearing the mixed reviews on this one has me a bit iffy on trying it, even after this review.

Coming from an impossible to describe, by typing, Jurassic Park lover, and buying this game myself. I have to be completely honest with you by saying I would not recommend spending $29.99 on these 5 episodes.

They offer no replay value, the gameplay boasts that it is like Heavy Rain with Quick Time Events (QTE) yet there is no ability to walk around in the game like in Heavy Rain, and the graphics and animations are so sub par with today's standards, that it just doesn't immerse you into the world like the first movie did.

It really pains me to say this about anything Jurassic Park related, but this game is really bad and not worth your time. I could go on and on about different pros and cons to this game, because there are some cool things in there and original ideas they introduced and brought up but its just not worth the price point in this day and age.

If anything, I would say watch someones playthough of the game on Youtube somewhere instead. I guarantee you'll be getting the same out of it as it you actually paid for it.

they offered it to me for free because I renewed my PSN+... one of the weeks they had a promo... it wasn't that long ago... I didn't even know I registered for it because I bought the card @ GS and redeemed the code... the promo was on PSN Store.

either way I didn't download it though. something told me it wasn't going to any good.

The Best Jurassic Park Games To Date

The beauty of these extinct animals were resurrected in Steven Spielberg’s movie, Jurassic Park, the film adaptation of Michael Crichton’s book. It was phenomenal. If film creators can do it, why not video-game developers?

No Jurassic Park on the Sega Genesis? Really? :[

PurpHerbison2151d ago

Nothing better than the T-Rex saying SEGA in the beginning to get you hyped as a kid.

Remeber the one on the snes? The only Jurassic Park game I played

PurpHerbison2151d ago

It was a good game but it didn't carry nearly as much suspense as the SEGA version. Could just be a case of the SEGA version being my first though.

Dude Jurassic Park 1 on the Genesis or even the SNES isn't on here!? This list is mostly garbage JP games... like the TTG one, really?
