Mass Effect Review: Geek.com's Early Pick for "Game of the Year"

Geek.com reviews Mass Effect on December 3, 2007:

"I initially had my reservations about Mass Effect, because while I thought the videos looked pretty, everything felt like it was ripped off from Star Wars... Bioware's effort, however, completely blew me away; this action RPG is in a league of its own and has squeaked past Bioshock (see our review) as my choice for Game of the Year."

"All told, Mass Effect is simply stunning. I had initially thought that any of Bioshock, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, or The Orange Box (see our previous review for each) would be far superior to Mass Effect. I'm so glad I was wrong. Adult gamers, this is a must-have, and it's beating a crowded field as the best game this year. I award it my third ever Geek Pick and suggest that any adult with an Xbox 360 go out and immediately purchase it."

Dont get me wrong Mario probably deserves to be GOTY, just as much as any other contender, but maybe he's like me and he's not really into Mario or pretty much anything else on the wii, its not hate but maybe its just not his thing, which means he just finds ME alot more interesting than Mario Galaxy, and thus GOTY(in his opinion).

was an excellent game, and is definatly in my top 5 games of the year, but my personal favourite game of the year is....PORTAL.

Portal was original, refreshing and had a superb engaging story and humourous computer that babbled all sorts of crap whilst you play. Plus you get to meet your Companion Cube! Loved it!

Mario Galaxy is also in my top 5, superb game, but personally I prefered Mass Effect to Mario.

Mass Effect looks totally amazing, played great and has the best voice acting in any game I've played this year.

Honorable mention for COD4, Halo 3 & Uncharted. The 500th installment of Mario on the Wii does not impress me, nor does R&C. I guess I'm "too old" for those types of games, but then again, I don't think I'd have either of those games as my personal GOTY when I was 15 versus the other available contenders this year.

If Mass Effect didn't have any framerate hitches, it would be GOTY hands down, period. Best videogame story of "Next Gen" undoubtably, and one playthrough is a s long as Bioshock + COD4 + Uncharted combined.

Its Been Long We Heard of a Sony Game Winning Game Of The Year AINT THAT WEIRD SONYFANBOYS?
anyways SuperMario was quite a Good game i played it a Few time With my cousins and i did not Find it boring at all.
MassEffect is Quite Spectacular But i've Played it Only Twice so I Dont Really Know For The Story,But Still it was Quite Interesting .
For Sony I'd like Uncharted to make The Cut i've played it Twice and The game was Fire.
