Star Wars: The Old Republic is two parts Knights of the Old Republic, one part Grand Fantasia, one part Star Fox and one part World of Warcraft with a sprinkling of Second Life and a bit of good old roleplaying (to taste). BioWare's final weekend beta for their first foray in to the MMORPG world concluded this past Monday, November 28th; this beta was also used as a stress test to prepare for the inevitably enormous number of players who will attempt to access the game on its December 20th release. While this writer was only able to progress to the 12th of 50 levels over the weekend, the content we saw was for the most part wonderfully enjoyable.

EA is nearing an agreement to move the ongoing development and operation of MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic from BioWare to third-party studio Broadsword Online Games, IGN has learned. The move is intended to allow BioWare to focus on Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.
