Self-confessed "military nut" and Ninja Gaiden II dev, Tomonobu Itagaki, believes that military shooters err heavily on the side of entertainment and need to focus on realism to make a real breakthrough.
Recently, players of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone were met with a new bundle featuring the B.E.A.S.T. Glove, inspired by King Kong's armament in the Godzilla x Kong movie. However, the $80 price tag attached to this themed accessory left many Call of Duty fans feeling underwhelmed.
Morons that allow themselves to be milked continuously by this company is the definition of irony.
Spend more $$ and you'll end up In easier lobbies so you win both ways when ya spend that cash
Controversy in the COD community feels like it happens within an alternate timeline. Activision will take the piss with something, there will be a momentary fuss about it, and then they will forget about it and carry on anyway. Repeat this cycle literally every year for the rest of time.
I'm so tired of hearing about what they're doing with this game, its never going to change and it's never going to value the consumer over money, furthermore the people who engage so heavily in the microtransactions I guess allegedly are having a blast and can't wait to do it some more this year when the new version of the game drops.
The famous comedy duo is the latest example of pop culture becoming one big grey blob
Certain to have some sort of reference to their online store for CBD/THC chews, which is advertising heavily online the last month or two.
The randomness of the multiplayer characters is one of reason I quit playing COD after briefly returning in 2022. We got Space Marines, rappers, tree monsters etc. all in a series called “ Modern Warfare”.
From Bootleg to Black Box, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 made a heartbreaking mistake by not remastering the bizarrely forgotten maps from its namesake.
ARMA2, any original rainbow six, and original ghost recons.
Frankly I'm starting to get a little fed up with the industries current fascination with realism. Sure, I do enjoy some realistic games, such as Forza or Flashpoint, but the main reason I play games is to get away from real life for a little while and see what the imaginations of the developers can do.
But that's just me.
I don't understand why some people are getting upset thinking "Oh these are video games, they're not supposed to be realistic!"
Look at how many games in the market that aren't realistic though. Are a few games that are going to adhere more to realism gonna hurt the market, let alone the experience of other gamers? Plus, more realistic FPS games have a fan base and unfortunately they can't get the same experience with games like COD. I would like to see more developers make at least one game to show that fan base some love. Don't get me wrong, I've played games like Operation Flashpoint and ARMA that require patience and can get boring, but they offer challenge to people willing to try it and that's entertaining to some.
Do gamers honestly want the same stuff being shoveled into this already saturated market to continue?
he needs to focus more on making a story that someone can "realistically" understand becuase each NG is barely comprehensible....
on that note, military shooters only need to be realistic when it is their intention to do so. COD is an example where its not necessary, its a pick up and play arcade like shooter, nothing wrong with that. BF is a series meant to walk the line between realism and fun, and a series like Americas army or operation flash point is meant to be realistic....simple as that
i don't have a problem with devs speaking out but instead of focusing on what you think other devs are having problems with you should focus on your own and correcting them, then worry about other devs.....
he can start with.....
adding a good story
making a game in under 5 years
making a game truly hard not just adding rockets ( got it right with NG black, bombed it with NG2 )
he does make some great game-play though, ill give him that
Ninja Gaiden II really!
If delayed sound effects are the only thing you do not find realistic in Battlefield 3... then DICE has done a REALLY good job.
But they missed BF3s jumping in/out of vehicles... in air... with reusable parachute...
But if they make a game that
- looks as realistic as BF3
- sounds as realistic as BF3 - no wait didn't they just promised better?
- behaves as realistic as BF3
- plays as fun as BF3 while keeping full realism (no respawns?)
- on the same hardware
More power to them!
EDIT: took a look at the MW3 sub section
"Citing a piece of Modern Warfare 3 promotional material, he explained that a Russian submarine was shown with two propellers on its back spinning in the same direction, which according to the laws of physics, wouldn’t be able to propel it. Is it just a minor nitpick or legitimate claim? To Itagaki, it’s extremely important."
OK, they turn in the same direction. Why would that be impossible?
If you look at the video you see that they use identical blades, thus both will create trust forward. It might not be the way you would do it in practice, when having two propellers you probably want the other one to turn in the other direction with a mirrored propeller to counter rotational effect - but that might not be a real problem since you can build subs with only one propeller...
I am not convinced that they really know what they are talking about!
