Activision Veteran Claims He Will "Dethrone" Call of Duty

Based on his time spent as the senior vice president and head of publishing at Activision for a number of years, Dusty Welch seems justifiably confident in his latest venture. As the head of the newly founded U4iA Games, he has only one goal on his mind: dethrone Call of Duty as the top competitive FPS series.

As much as i want this game to get dethroned i don't think anyone can except the creators Vince&Jason they know what made cod successful so they must know how to bring it down.

Laxman4547d ago

Yeah im looking forward to a big reveal sometime soon from those guys. That single teaser image got the hype brewing already. Im thinking E3.

Jonah_Reese4547d ago

... No, you can be a strong competitor against it but at this very moment "Dethroning" CoD is just talk at this moment.

one2thr4547d ago

Yeah especially when the game is so easy, that even a caveman can play it.....

Grimhammer004547d ago

It's easier than you think....but investors aren't willing to throw down 100 million in advertising.

Media blitz for months before launch and offer everything COD has but better.

Not too difficult from my armchair. Lol

vortis4547d ago

Offer everything CoD has but better? That's not hard...actually, just about every shooter out there that isn't COD has more than COD in terms of content (I don't understand why people still pay $60 for those games) but as you mentioned it's all about the media blitz and advertising.

Activision was lying about the cost of production for COD games, which is basically something a group of modders could churn out within a year or two, but I do believe them about the $100 million for marketing and it shows. That's mainly where the strength lies.

Won't happen, guaranteed. It's formula is pristine, can somebody please make me a quick list where the games labeled "Cod Killers" failed to beat call of duty?

one2thr4547d ago

I for one believe that all these so called "COD killers" had/has what it take to end call of duty's reign, but its really up to the million upon millions of people that keep eating up activisions $60 DLC. You can call me a hater, but I was once a COD zombie..... But after going 32k and 7d so many times, the game has become more and more less challenging......

JeffGUNZ4547d ago

@ one2thr.

Really? Who are you kidding? You honestly think that other online FPS have dethroned COD and just didn't because of advertising? Name some, heck, name one? There are tons of AMAZING FPS out there, but the online aspect of COD is so addicting and fun, that it's just a monster now. A lot of it is the 60fps on the consoles, which make it feel like the smoothest FPS out there. COD is a monster and it's not by accident, the game focuses on the most important aspect of a game, the fun factor.

one2thr4547d ago

What is "fun" exactly?
I find Killzone 2 and 3 "fun".....
I find Battlefield:Bad Company 2"fun".....
I find Battlefield 3.....
I find Resistance 1-3 "Fun".....
I find Portal 2 (even though its not a military shooter) "fun".....
I find Fallout "Fun".....
But COD, and I'm just speaking for myself, I did once find it "fun", but not any more seeing that it gets less and less challenging to play..... I guess its that, me growing up playing challenging games had made me this way..... Im sorry but I don not find COD challenging and on top of that most of the people I come across that have played it usually never play the objectives and most of the time play as lonewolfs. I know that it doesnt only happen in this game, but its more commonly found within COD games.....

Another L for Xbox, when are they going to have good news?

MrDead1d 7h ago

I would read the article but the giant pop-ups from the top and bottom of the screen made me close it.

Without reading $23.4 million isn't a deterrent for a company that size.

Boss: Let's fire a few people to recoup on that loss.
Slave: Cortana has decided to get rid of Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks.

Well another troll company with a patent trying to extort money out of companies. Seems like they’re going to try and sue everyone.
