NowGamer - The original PlanetSide was ahead of its time. Sony’s 2003 first-person shooter MMO didn’t just have to deal with the crippling demands of the hardware but also network connectivity woes at a time where broadband adoption was low.

Regrettably, the forward-thinking shooter was left mostly forgotten except for a passionate few that still fill the servers with the rattle of gunfire to this day.

The original remit for PlanetSide 2 was to remake the now clunky, antiquated MMO, repackage it with new textures and release it as a free-to-play online experience.
