Five Things Skyrim has Taught Me About Myself

"What a glorious, glorious time to be a gamer. As the nights get shorter the gaming sessions get longer, and I can't think of a better release period ever with which to spend the winter evenings. At the moment it appears like a classic is released every week, and I, like many, believe The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to be the best of the bunch. Hours have already been ploughed into this immersive game, but, sometimes, in a game where you are effectively playing a blank canvas in which to present your own personal preferences, you must take a look at what you have placed in front of you."

It's taught me that I have severe ADD.

badz1494557d ago

if anyone needs a freaking game to teach them about themselves, you're pretty much screwed in real life!

artynerd4557d ago

I think the concept is over your head, sorry :(

rezzah4557d ago

You can learn about yourself in almost anything, especially different mediums which include movies, paintings, GAMES, and much more.

It is however harder to discover more about yourself in simple objects like a rock, but it can be done (not for everyone though).

It taught me that

I'm not a Dragon slaying warrior
I'm not a Master Thief
I'm not a Mage
Magic dosen't exsist
and no matter how hard I look....you can not buy Skooma, theres not such thing.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast33d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22933d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko33d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave33d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
