Bored Of Skyrim? There’s Always Amalur

360 Magazine: While we’ll happily admit The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is quickly becoming our Game Of The Year, it hasn’t stopped us looking ahead to the potential RPG-delights just on the horizon.

Bored of reading about Skyrim, I've barely scratched the surface of playing it though. Can't even look at another RPG right now.

Zoron0074553d ago

Even if I was bored of Skyrim, which I'm not, I couldn't play this because its not out for 3 months.

Redgehammer4553d ago

If your bored of Skyrim, then maybe you do not have the attention span required to play video games.

IronFistChinMi4553d ago

Attention span is nothing to do with it. I found TES 3 (Morrowind) dull, but have played through Shenmue 1/2 at least 3 times each, Mass Effect 1/2 6 times each and FF VII twice.

I will be trying Skyrim as it looks awesome, but medieval fantasy's aren't really my thing.

Redgehammer4553d ago

I understand a game not being ones thing, way more than I do someone being bored of a game like Skyrim. Although I do not relate to being bored with a game like Skyrim, I certainly relate to being bored with a game genre.

Thx for the reply.

Not to raise peoples hopes but I got inside info that more Versus XIII info will be revealed next month. To be exact, there is an 80% chance that this info will be at this years Jump Festa and a 20% chance that it will be revealed on some other day in December. This should come as no suprise to fans as we know that Square always announces something at Jump Festa.

"Bored of Skyrim?"

I don't even know how this could be possible at this stage, unless you really hate fantasy or the RPG genre. Even if there was a crazy steam sale right now I don't think I'd buy anything, I just don't need any other game right now, thanks though.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast27d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22927d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko27d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
