The eighth in the Blast From The Past series on The Gamers Hub. This week they look at Namco's weapon based fighting game Soul Calibur II.

Now that the Japanese console versions of Soulcalibur II are 20 years old, it's worth looking back at why the game remains so iconic.
Of the three console versions, GCN was my favorite due to Link. His character felt more accurate to the others. Hehachi and Spawn were okay but... felt out of place.
Then again, so did Yoda and Vader in SC4.
Thousands of matches, countless nights, and beautiful memories. Soulcalibur is one the greatest games there is, but its best feat is that it gathered friends for some of the best times of their lives. I miss those days and i miss those friends.
Thought 3 was better personally, shame it's stuck on PS2 and didn't get any love since.
It had one of the best ways to have a story for every character in any fighting game.
Something thats missing in the most fighting games that are not BlazBlue anyway. Sadly.

the one installment that had the worst Mitsurugi model, but the game itself still is second best after the original. I too, will get the 5th have no doubt.
