BioWare has just released a long list of Mass Effect 3 online co-op details. It confirms the lack of local support as of now. Jesse Houston, the game’s producer, provides the following information.
Based on one narratively fitting ending in Mass Effect 3, Prothean squadmate Javik is highly unlikely to return in the next Mass Effect game.
He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.

Wow, they really put some thinking into this (when the servers are take down permanently). This is good news for those that buy the game late, and want to get all the trophies/achievements.
"The servers will only go down if there aren’t enough players.

I don't like the sound of this, its typical EA though.
