Hacking Returns in Modern Warfare 3

I tried to play MW3 MP. I have really tried. I can finish in the mid to top of the pack every time. But the fact is I can't find the enjoyment. maybe it is in there but I can't seem to locate it. I play 4 or 5 rounds and then I can't take it anymore and go right back to BF3. And the contrast is jolting.

My Hardened Edition is gathering dust after I burned through the SP, which took me as long to play it as it did Infinity Ward to make it. First thing I noticed was all the reused animations. During the Zodiac run to the Delta Queen pickup, I kept watching the Team Leader in the bow of the boat shift positions with the same animation used for Price in the river run of MW2. And you see it again, and again, and again.

I was in the Turbulence level at the beginning and there were 3 guys in the room with me and the Russian President that are the exact same model. I was having flashbacks to Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.

Infinity Ward says if 1 enemy is good, then 10 is 10 times as good and it just isn't the case.

Activision devs are using almost the same code since COD4, obviously there would problems already in MW3! It's basically the same hacks, glitches, exploits and all other bullcrap since 2007...

They didn't "steped up" or "got their act together" so far after so many CODs, I don't see the logic on people waiting for anything but the same old noobfest.

The complaint in the article is about the button symbols in the clan tag. That is a FEATURE of the game (sort of an easter egg...) that IW knows about, and intentionally put into the MW3 game.

This is NOT the first sign of hacking/modding like it was in MW2.

The 'hacked gamertags' aren't really hacked. I've heard it's simply a case of entering specific symbols into your clan tag. Annoying as hell though, with all the kids writing [seXY] as their clan tag

Easter egg... but because there's a huge circlejerk of people hating on CoD, it's a "bug" or a "mod" or a "hack."

I'm not usually one to defend CoD (although I play it for a bit once it's released) but these sensationalist comments are a bit out of hand.

If this were Gears or BF or Uncharted or some other "community" accepted game, it would be a "feature" or a "cool addition" but because the hip thing to do is bash CoD, it's none of those things, but rather a perceived negative mark on the game.

Easter Egg. Yes. Thats what a lazy Dev would say isn't it. An easter egg is something a Dev would put INTO a game, not just LEAVE in it after copy and pasting from MW2.

They didn't bother to change the HUD in the slightest. So when it comes to Glitches and Bugs from previous MW games, they were too lazy to take them out so they just say, "Oh we wanted some easter eggs in there, LOL"

Aside from the somewhat spotty hit detection I think Black Ops is better than MW3 in nearly every way. Treyarch really stepped their game up to compete with Infinity Ward.

Not really sure we should expect a lot from IW after all of the firings and whatnot. Hopefully they respond well but I don't think I've ever seen a copy/paste title like MW2 & MW3 is.

TreyArch has yet to prove they can create anything that comes close to the success COD by IW (the original creators/team). From the ground up. You can't really blame IW since the team has been disbanded and long gone. Activision is only borrowing whatever is left of the name and running the series into the ground. For PS3- If you have a regular keyboard, go into XMB and put in that you have a dutch keyboard. Then go into MW3 and go to clan tag. Hold down ALT and press 4. You will get the L3 text and symbol.

Thats not hacking- its simply using the tools which we are given.

You set your system language to something really obscure (like arabic or something) and use characters that won't transate to ordinary characters in your usual character set. Then when you change the languate back, instead of letters you get whatever other character was in that place in the set (the button icons are often characters in the font set).

Infinity ward needs to fix the teamkilling in mw3. Teamkilling ruined cod4 in the hardcore modes and then infinity ward addressed it in mw2. And now they went back to the old system where teamkillers don't get punished for teamkilling their whole team with a rpg at the beginning of the round. Why would you go back to cod4 when you addressed it in mw2? Infinity ward, you need to use the ricochet method again. Why would you take it out of mw3, are you stupid?

Hacked gamertag names are profile hacks not game hacks. It's nothing any developer can stop since the user manipulates the name of their gamertag from the account files of the Xbox 360 Profile and not the game. The gamertag name is then displayed on screen as the user intended, but the original gamertag name can be found by viewing profile - Microsoft Enforcement can pick up the hack themselves by other users reporting them for manipulating in-game content by bringing up the report menu.
