Is There a New Legacy of Kain in Development?

"The Canadian studio Silicon Knights has been having some trouble lately, but don’t count them out just yet. Although the studio has recently confirmed to Kotaku that they are down to a mere 25 employees due to massive layoffs:" - JPS

Couldn't have said it better myself.

This needs to happen.

Silicon Knights hasn't owned the LoK IP for over a decade. They sold it to Crystal Dynamics, and I believe it now belongs to Square-Enix.

More to the point "returning to its roots", for Silicon Knights, would mean a return to fantasy conquest style games, NOT Legacy of Kain. The first (and only one by Silicon Knights) LoK game was about midway through Silicon Knight's life cycle as a dev -- its not one of its "roots" at all.

Pozzle4575d ago

I wish it was true, but Silicon Knights haven't owned the rights to the series since 1997.

Amiz4575d ago

I can't believe this series hasnt been revived yet

ZombieAssassin4575d ago (Edited 4575d ago )

I'd rather Crystal Dynamics make it if it was going to be made, I don't see it happening though.

I don't think SK has put anything good out since the first Blood Omen and that game didn't play anything like the rest of them.

Pozzle4575d ago

I'd rather Naughty Dog make it if it's going to be made. Amy Hennig is a big reason why the series' is so amazing, and we've already seen what happens when someone else tries to write a LoK game (Blood Omen 2).

ZombieAssassin4575d ago

Well yea I'd prefer that over all else but I thinks it's pretty much guaranteed that will never happen, at least CD has a chance as SE own them and the rights to the LoK series.

The 7 Best Vampire Games: Embrace the Night

Vampire games are making a comeback of late, and gamers hoping this is a new trend should look back at the 7 best vampire games ever made.

SimpleSlave43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

What is a list? A miserable little pile of scribbles.

A Best Vampire Game list and no Bloodborne. A bold choice, indeed.

The_Hooligan43d ago

IMO, I wouldn't consider bloodborne a vampire game. Long story short, It's more about the side effects of the blood experiment and the influence of the red moon, than actually being a vampire.

SimpleSlave43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Yes, Bloodborne is about Vampires. It's not just the undertones, or the imagery or the obvious parallels, it's pretty much everything and then some. Here's the thing, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also not a Vampire novel. Why? Because technically Vampires from folklore were something else.

But based on our updated view of what Vampires are, informed in one way or another by Bram Stoker's Dracula, Nosferatu The Vamprye, and many other stories, and combined with From Software's own interpretation, we can say with confidence that Bloodborne IS a Vampire story. Sure, there are other elements, but the central narrative is pretty much Vampires. Which would make it THE Vampire game. I mean, Cainhurst Castle. Anyways, that's how I see it.

But to each their and we'll agree to disagree.

MEGANE43d ago

Thats the best Vampire game ever, but enough talk, have at you!.

SimpleSlave43d ago (Edited 43d ago )

Absolutely... Now, die monster! You don't belong in this thread!

I've lost all hype for Bloodlines 2. It's going to be an action game.

Barlos43d ago

No Blood Omen? Even today it's one of my favourite vampire games. We could really do with a release on modern platforms.

Relientk7743d ago

I really enjoyed Vampyr. The combat is a little clunky and could use some work. However, the story, characters, dialog. setting, and pretty much everything else in the game is great.

7 Game Series in Need of a Reboot

Rebooting seems to be all the rage these days, so here's Chit Hot's picks for seven game series that need a reboot.

RavenWolfx347d ago

Dino Crisis and Legacy of Cain I can get behind. The others, meh. I would also love to see a Remake of Resident Evil: Outbreak, Legend of Dragoon, and Jade Empire.

SpacedDuck347d ago

I absolutely love Banjo Kazooie but holy crap is a Dino Crisis remaster such a massive opportunity for Capcom.

The engine they have used for the RE Remakes is perfect and it would be so cool to see the first two games remade.

isarai347d ago

Mercenaries, True Crime, Dead to Rights, Max Payne, Manhunt, Duke Nukem, Prince of Persia, Burnout, Matrix, Outrun, Jet Set Radio, Otogi, Kenka Banco, Syphon Filter, Power stone, San Francisco Rush, and despite not being a series, BLACK

banger88347d ago

The Saints Row reboot needs a reboot. Saints Row 2 holds up quite well, but the original needs a remake at least. Keep everything exactly the same, just with better graphics.
