Sony will launch a major PS3 marketing assault over the coming weeks as the system enters its first Christmas in Europe trailing Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360 in terms of market share.
Sony hopes to capture the imagination of UK consumers entering the crucial holiday season with a flagship TV ad dubbed "The Entertainers". The theatrical ad, which features a magician, his assistants and an acrobat, will aim to promote the multiple capabilities of the PS3, which can play Blu-ray movies, features an internet browser, and can store photos and music, reports Guardian Unlimited.
Backward compatibility works for many games on newer consoles, but titles such as The Simpsons: Hit and Run have been left out.
From base building to swinging willies, here are the best survival games around, which include a couple of less than obvious picks.
It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.
Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.
They're scum.
"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."
Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.
Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.
But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?
Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.
Godspeed, Sony.
It will be all in vein as Sony will come last in sales these holidays. It just can't compare to the Wii's popularity and the Xbox 360s all-star AAA lineup which consumers worldwide are excited for.
Let's get the ball rolling this holiday season!!!
THE AD DOESN'T FEATURE A CRYING DOLL,THEY SHOULD BE FINE
All of Sony's overlooked games have a great chance of selling again this season do to alot of AAA games being pushed back and I'm glad for that. Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Genji 2, Folklore are just 3 of the games exclusive for Ps3 that will see sales jumps because of lack of software and they should cause all 3 are really exceptional games for what they do. Genji 2, to this day, is probably the best looking next gen game there is. Uncharted and R&C and GOW aside, of course... but Genji 2 is super impressive to look at. The texture detail is damn near unrivaled, folks.
It'll be an interesting holiday for Sony's older Ps3 games, I believe. I Folklore passes the 500,000 market easily, all do from lack of software on the ps3 end of things and rightfully so it should. It's an amazing game.
