trainsinrdr4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

Rage was rubbish so I couldn't care less about their next game.
They focus too much on the visuals and not enough in any other category.
Besides there is too many great games coming out to worry about things like this.

@Septic I'm going nowhere bitch.

Mrmagnumman3574572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

Agreed, rage is completely different from doom, if DOOM 4 comes and pushes pc graphics and has the same gameplay style then i will get it. BTW, awesome quake 3 avatar, i love that game

WrAiTh Sp3cTr34571d ago

People actually believed the rumor? Lol...only on n4g.

NarooN4571d ago

+Bubbs just for your Q3A avatar.

NYC_Gamer4572d ago

even though the visuals aren't that great in my opinion

StraightPath4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

Erm Rage is same region of metacritic as Killzone 3 , Resistance 3 , infamous 2 and many more. Well I guess they are rubbish too :D I think PS3 fanboys got really angry when Carmack said somthing about the PS3.

Baka-akaB4572d ago

yeah sure , make it a ps3 thing . It's not as if PC gamers havent been complaining a lot about rage /s .

nor as many 360 users for various reasons -_-

Silly gameAr4572d ago

I blame PS3 fanboys for global warming.

kaveti66164572d ago

I agree with you on this.

PC gamers haven't been complaining nearly as much as PS3 fanboys.

If you go to any PC gaming forum about RAGE, they're politely offering advice on how to fix the game's visual glitches through driver tweaks.

Anyway, both Nvidia and AMD are on the case to make sure the problems go away with driver updates.

All the of the complaints about RAGE as a game could be made against games like Dead Space and Killzone, but the reason why they're not is because Carmack expressed criticisms of developing on PS3.

RAGE is not rubbish at all. It's repetitive like most games. That's its main failing but if you're going to criticize it that heavily for repetitive gameplay then criticize Killzone, Resistance, Halo, Gears, Uncharted, Dead Space, Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls with the same degree.

AO1JMM4571d ago

Goodbye....

Rage was far from Rubbish. Your MW3 on the other hand.... But you'll enjoy glitching to 10th prestige wont you. Derp!

After Doom 3 I'm surprised anyone is interested in Doom 4..

andron4572d ago

That's what I always say too. Bring back the fun from the original Doom games...

Drekken4572d ago

Doom 3 was the worst. Flashlight 3 would have been a better name.

Baka-akaB4572d ago

I'd rather have a real Quake back , not done by quacks

LightofDarkness4572d ago

I'd be giddy as a schoolgirl if a proper follow-up to Quake 1 was announced, or even a GOOD sequel to Quake 2 (Quake 4 was made by Raven, so screw that it's not real :p)

LightofDarkness4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

Well, a recent comment made by one of the developers stated that some technological hurdles had to be surmounted due to the differences between RAGE and Doom 4 in gameplay requirements, and I believe the developer said something akin to "... but in Doom 4 it'll be too hard on the machines (consoles) when there's 30 or so demons on screen at once".

This comment made me cautiously optimistic.

Id and Bungie should make a game together = graphics and gameplay

Baka-akaB4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

No thanks . id doesnt need gameplay lessons from them . Even if Rage was a misfire from what i'd wish for .

The best halo isnt yet half as great a MP experience as Quake 2 or 3

Mrmagnumman3574572d ago

Agreed, quake 3 is the best multiplayer ever, in my opinion, and dont disagree if you haven't played it, but I think the fact that thousands still play it, is a testament to this.

MilkMan4572d ago

Rage is and awesome game. Unless you played it you wouldn't know.
Visually its hot, action is hot and the co-op mission kick ass.
They have nothing to be worried about.
I say, make Doom 4. Just make sure to light it up this time. ID Tech 5 is a fantastic engine.

Morgue4572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

I do think it's funny that a lot of people have bagged on ID because of the texture pop in but at the same time it was totally fine for Gears? Never really understood double standards.

Heartnet4572d ago

Cause Rage is a hot topic mainly :) and everyone that is flaming is a PC gamer lol and obv they deserve so much more than console gamers 8-) /s

Ranich4572d ago

Because id and their grandparents were bragging about their new engine: "It's the best out there. You've never seen anything like it."

Then when you play it on any of the systems you notice that the clouds don't move and the backdrop of the game is the best looking thing. Don't even get me started on the awful plot and terribly linear gameplay - I like linear games, IF they have a fucking story line.

Lyr1c4571d ago

I actually didn't like it all that much. The environments and animation were amazing, but the gameplay was a bit too generic for my taste.

To each, their own.

Ingram4572d ago

Bethesda shouldn't just throw unfinished code upon QA.

Sadly, Carmack was done for when Bethesda bought Id.

Whether you accept it or not, Bethesda does not make finished games, they always are unforgivably broken and full of bugs.

Heartnet4572d ago

Rage isnt broken... u obv have played it lol :) Im playing through it on ma console and havnt discovered any bugs :)

Ranich4572d ago

While this may be true, all the shit that happened with RAGE was all on id's end - they fucked up.

Ingram4572d ago

No F* way. Bethesda bought Id halfway RAGE's development process thus imposing its own launch date. I sometimes wonder if Bethesda's supporters truly have played Oblivion and FO3 and such extensively.

Their
Games
Are
BROKEN.

kaveti66164572d ago (Edited 4572d ago )

Broken means unplayable, dolt.

Neither of those games are broken.

kramun4571d ago

I've played Oblivion, FO3 and Rage to death and they are not broken at all. I encountered as many bugs as I would with any other game on the market, hardly any.

I always wonder whether the people who complain about them had played them extensively.

Im glad he leaving. Bethesda has been terrible under his leadership. Redfall, Starfield, Fallout76 and the list goes on an on. His leadership style is outdated. Hopefully, MS bring someone in that knows what they are doing.

RhinoGamer88193d ago

I will give you Fallout 76, but Redfall and Starfield's blame needs to fall somewhat on the terrible Xbox publishing team. With all their resources and supposed smarts...they fungled it.

VenomUK193d ago

@Mika He’s the communications guy - you can’t blame him for the quality of the product.

jznrpg193d ago

Maybe they can go to their earlier purchases for replacements . Like Rare devs , Gear devs or 343, one of the very few studios they built up and man they are great.

Crows90193d ago

That could work ...if MS knew what they were doing themselves ...

But let's be real. Xbox was in charge of redfall and Starfield. They just don't know what a good game looks like.

RhinoGamer88193d ago

I interviewed at Bethesda once, and while there were some very smart mid level team members, the upper ranks (EP/VP/Studio Head) were a total boys' club. The Madmen series ego in that lunch was stiffling.

generic-user-name193d ago

Pete Hines was against locking out the majority of their console playerbase (ps gamers). Probably disgusted at the hypocrisy of white knight Phil assuring PS gamers that they can still play COD. Acquisition goes through, Hines goes out.

Goodbye Pete.

gold_drake193d ago

i wonder if he was asked to leave.

im pretty sure not everyone was on board with the acquisition.

Profchaos193d ago

Pretty much everyone outside of Todd has made snide comments against the acquisition but money talks

Pete Hines on Starfield: 'We could make a safer, less buggy, less risky game if we wanted to'

The number one game development doctrine: It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

jznrpg236d ago

What risks were taken? Space travel? Entire planets ? Vehicles for planets? Smart AI? Don’t see any risks taken

bababooiy236d ago

Exactly, this game has 0 innovation. Everything has already been done before here, by Bethesda themselfs no less. Years back when Todd was showing off Skyrim going "see that mountain. you can go there" actually sounded impressive becouse you knew it ment you could literally walk straight up that mountain, no loading screens nothing! Now we have gone backwards.

Seraphim236d ago

Just more Hines blowing smoke up the ass of people.

notachance236d ago

He fits right in with MS with their overhyped catchphrase. Phil, Pete, and Todd Howard should host a talkshow because they’re clearly the experts on having interviews.

idk if it’s the difference between japan and west culture but Nintendo and Sony employees are practically radio silent compared to them..

jwillj2k4236d ago (Edited 236d ago )

The only risks taken were in the exploration lies told when advertising. This is basically Bethesda’s take on Mass Effect 1.

yeahokwhatever235d ago

thats exactly what this game is. a fallout 4 mass effect mod.

Redgrave236d ago

"If we wanted to"

So.... you.... haven't wanted to prior to now?

Kaze88235d ago

Exactly :D if this comment from Hines should have been an W, it totally wasn't. Telling your customers that you did not care enough before does not make you any better now. Only when your boss aka MS ass was on the line you cared. What an idiot.

Bethesda's Pete Hines Says Redfall Will Be a Good Game Eventually, Compares It to Fallout 76

Bethesda Softworks publishing head Pete Hines has reassured players that Arkane isn't giving up on Redfall, despite its lukewarm reception on launch earlier this year. In fact, he's confident it will be a good game people want to play on Game Pass ten years from now.

Sciurus_vulgaris238d ago

Redfall will likely not have the same level of long-term of support as Fallout 76. I doubt Redfall is popular enough to warrant several years of support and updates.

DarXyde237d ago

Yeah, I think Microsoft is done with that experiment. Honestly, I would be quite surprised if the 60fps patch comes at all anymore. It's such an afterthought at this point.

thesoftware730236d ago

Why would you be surprised?

"Okay, we didn't get the start we wanted, but it's still a fun game… and we're going to keep working on it. We're going to do 60fps. We're going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever."

This is directly from the article...he is telling you it's coming.

DarXyde236d ago

thesoftware370,

Isn't it obvious?

I don't believe anything they're saying. When I see it... If I see it... Then it happens.

S2Killinit236d ago

This is MS they just say things. They dont have to be based on reality.

Snookies12238d ago (Edited 238d ago )

It should have been a good game coming out the gate... I get that not all games are going to be winners. But, at the very least, make sure it's decent before releasing. Especially with a huge company like Bethesda backing it. Not to mention Arkane had a great reputation before this. It's one thing for an indie title not meeting expectations. It's another entirely when you're supposed to be backed by a huge player in the industry.

cleft5236d ago

Starfield released without an FOV slider... I don't think listening to anyone from Bethesda is a good idea.

Jin_Sakai238d ago

It’s already dead Jim. Just like Halo Infinite.

People have moved on to better games.

coolbeans238d ago

-"Just like Halo Infinite."

To say this with such confidence suggests you don't get called out enough on bad takes.

jjb1981237d ago

Halo Infinite is dead though.

Abear21237d ago

More people play Risk on Steam than Halo

ChasterMies237d ago

Halo Infinite is so forgettable that N4G has been flooded with articles saying Starfield is the first big Xbox exclusive this generation, the savior of Xbox, and the kickoff to Xbox’s exclusives. Hype meets reality.

coolbeans236d ago (Edited 236d ago )

-"Halo Infinite is dead though."

These responses have to either be delusional or deliberately disregarding the context to which I'm responding. Just to be clear, you understand Jin literally parallels Spedfall (that's still waiting on an 60fps patch) to a game who's just had a recent seasonal update and another (Season 5) scheduled for Oct, right? You can't even pretend like that's on "life support" compared to what Pete Hine's saying here with Redfall.

-"More people play Risk on Steam than Halo"

Even if that were true, which it's not ( https://steamdb.info/app/11... ), you're forgetting an entire online platform to make your argument, Poindexter. Do better.

-"Halo Infinite is so forgettable that N4G has been flooded with articles saying Starfield is the first big Xbox exclusive this generation, the savior of Xbox, and the kickoff to Xbox’s exclusives."

Just so I'm clear about this: 'gamez jurnalizm' (or at least a big collection of that field), the same group who've constantly been personified as unethical hype-mongers for big companies, hyping up another game as THE NEXT BIG THING is going to be your proof of this? How convenient.

Also, part of what you stated doesn't even diminish Infinite's status: "first big Xbox exclusive [of/for] this generation" works in Starfield's scenario since Infinite is a Xbox One, Series, & PC game. That language could just as easily be emphasizing a 9th-gen game from a cross-gen game.

Profchaos236d ago

Only the hardest of the hardcore still believe

BlackTar187235d ago

Cool beans that is some legendary orange glow level of cope. Well done

coolbeans235d ago

-"Only the hardest of the hardcore still believe"

Although I still think you're diminishing its reach, at least you're added fairer context.

-"Cool beans that is some legendary orange glow level of cope. Well done"

And that is one of the most vapid responses I could've expected. Congrats.

Bad move. Fallout 76 is still awful and not at all beloved by the Fallout community.

thesoftware730236d ago

But Fallout 76 has about 14 million players ..

Somebody is playing it, you can't possibly think that is bad.

TheColbertinator236d ago

Millions of people also bought the PS5 even though the system sucks. Quantity is not always quality

XiNatsuDragnel238d ago

It's over Jim because f76 and red fall are cursed to be bad let's be honest.
