It would take some serious dedication to actually do this legitimately.

BattleTorn4580d ago (Edited 4580d ago )

Well considering majority of the dates are prior to now (release), can this acheivement actually be done legitimately?

beginning to think this was a error in the guide.

dski10804580d ago

The year only matters for the holidays that fall on a different day every year:

Mothers Day
Fathers Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving

So if you were going to do this legitimately you'd have to look up what days those fall on in 2012.

saladthieves4580d ago

I'll do this legitimately...gonna take me some time though

Soldierone4579d ago

At above. So since I don't have money to buy it now, I won't be screwed right? I wonder how far in advance they planned it.

torchic4580d ago

there's a trophy/achievement on Crysis 2 that requires you to log on 6 months after your first online game. and you can't manipulate it as it uses the online server times. not as bad as completing this trophy legitimately but still... dedication

M-Easy4580d ago

True and the trophy/achievement is glitched, how hilarious is that lol?

joab7774579d ago

Its the first, or second one I got, to get out of the way & I'm glad it isn't like crysis 2 b/c I'm 3 weeks over 6 months and it isn't popping and its my last trophy. As a hint, feast of St. Roch is August 16th. Calenderman is quite sadistic, especially father's day, lol. And, its gonna take a bit to plat for 2 reasons, there's a ton of content & i can't seem to make any progress because i just keep traveling around and kicking a$%!. I love how got feels like i just got done w asylumn...so familiar.

And it reminds me of another superhero game that i found myself wandering for hours...infamous.

IrishAssa4579d ago

Smart enough way to attack used sales...for Achievement hunting f**gits

Gamer19824579d ago

There will be few people doing this legit. Also means those who platinum/finish it within the first week did it through UN-legitimate means lol.

teedogg804579d ago

Pauses video before spoilers...I'm gonna attempt to try it!

HardCover4579d ago

It's still nothing compared to any of WoW's toughest achievements. Plenty of them are based around holidays, and you CAN'T cheat the clock.

Then there are achievements like Insane In The Membrane.... Oh God that one's ridiculous....

thedarkvault4579d ago

I guess if you really wanted it legit you could set up a bunch of calendar alarms on your phone

Was Calendar Man in Arkham Asylum?

Rampaged Death4580d ago

Not physically but there were items and such associated to him.

dski10804580d ago

Did any of those items relate to the stories he tells for each holiday in the video?

Kran4580d ago

There was one room in the Asylum which was filled with calendar day sheets covering the entire room.

saladthieves4580d ago

It's actually one of Riddler's challenges, and it's a cell prison within one of the cells. You walk in, and just scan the environment.

Spitfire_Riggz4580d ago

In one part of the game you actually get to see a jail cell with a bunch of post its with dates on them I think. Bunch of calendars everywhere or something like that

Pikajew4580d ago

Gothem need to get death row

smashcrashbash4580d ago

You can't kill people with mental illnesses. They are not responsible for what they are doing. Arkum needs to update and improve their methods

SilentNegotiator4580d ago (Edited 4580d ago )

"You can't kill people with mental illnesses. They are not responsible for what they are doing"

We all run on random chemical impulses in our brains. We can't let murders off because they're extra messed up in the head. Especially comic book characters.

Vote 'yes' on B12....the initiative to give comic book characters the death penalty!

despair4579d ago

After the number of people these "mental patients" kill in real life someone would've just put a bullet in their heads and noone would care.

I mean how many hundreds of dead bodies before a police officer just shoots joker when he's being transported or an arkham guard just gives a lethal dose along with the happy pills.

Still if you kill the super villains then you won't have a comic book or non zombie related video game sequels.

geddesmond4580d ago

I think trophies like this are retarded. Having to wait a full year to unlock a platinum trophy legitimately is a big outrage. Its never going to stop people from trading in a game so why bother.

explicitd4580d ago

Can you switch the time on the PS3 like you can on the 360?

Vortex3D4579d ago

PS3 has two clocks, user clock can manually change and internal clock that user can't manually change and only updated when you sync time over the internet.

I have tried manually change the user clock and the trophies time stamp were still based on the internal clock.

Not sure if Batman AC looks at the user or internal clock to count that you "play" the game on the required days.

Has anyone unlocked the trophy by manually adjusting the user clock?

Robotronfiend4579d ago

Yes, but if changing the time manually does not unlock it, then you will have to d/c from the internet and figure out how to change the internal clock. I'm not sure which clock the trophy syncs with.

SwampCroc4579d ago

I did this on PS3 just like the video suggests and it worked... you disable internet, change date... load game.. talk to calender man... exit back door of courthouse and exit out and continue with all dates..

read my post at the very bottom.

I believe the calender is set... and doesn't change as real time moves forward... so if this is the case... during the actual year 2012... the dates on Calender Man's calender will still correspond with 2011. so you can get it by just playing normally on those specific dates.

I.E. - The Mothers Day One is marked May 8th 2011... unless the actual calender changes when we enter 2012 than on May 8th 2012 you should be able to hear what Calender Man says on that day.

Dead_Cell4580d ago (Edited 4580d ago )

Not really, it's done for effect. Look at the Psycho Mantis Controller Switch in MGS1, how long do you think it took people to figure that one out?

rogimusprime4580d ago

Didn't take long at all, as the colonel was kind enough to suggest it if you died more than a few times. and THAT was actually fun. This seems like just a pain that only the whoriest(?) of trophy whores will go after...

firelogic4580d ago

Outrage over a trophy? Yeah, you have your priorities straight alright.

beer_baron4579d ago

Which achievement is more ludicrous; collecting over 400 collectibles or unplugging your console from the internet and changing the date 12 times?

geddesmond4579d ago

I think you missed the unlocking a trophy legitimately part. Disabling the internet connection and unlocking that way is sort of cheating. Secondly what about the ones like Crysis 2 that unlock if you play an online game 6 months after your first online game. At least with a collect 400 items trophies you are given a chance to get the platnum in your own time.

@Firelogic

Your the one who needs his priorities straight. Your defending a trophy that was put into a game to help the developers only. As for me when I buy a game I expect the challenges a trophy list offers to be a test to my gaming ability and I like racing PSN friends to a platnum. Wheres the challenge in disabling your internet and setting your PSN clock 12 times???

@Dead Cell

In MGS1 you could get by that part without switching controllers and in MGS3 you could kill that old sniper without setting the date forward until he died of old age.

sjaakiejj4579d ago

Care to clarify how this trophy would help the developer in any way? If you've got the game, they already have your money. They won't really care about what you do with it afterwards.

Cablephish4579d ago

@geddesmond

Consider this trophy a test of your patience then.

Kahvipannu4579d ago

Hmm.. it does sound a bit over the top, but most retarded trophy must be in MK. You have to play 24h with each character separatelly, and besides that make 100 fatalities with each one, etc..

It's just insane, there is so many characters to play with.. I got Jade "mastered", but that took insane ammount of playing already.

The Arkham games are largely excellent, a shame they are being followed up by that god awful looking suicide squad game.

RaidenBlack199d ago

All 4 Arkham games are just amazing...
With the Gotham Knights turning out sub par, hope the Suicide Squad fails as well... So that both Rocksteady and WB Montreal goes back to creating good single player DC games ...
A batman beyond game maybe?

anal_vegan_moans198d ago

Having the game fail would make it harder for them to get funding for their next game, please don't wish this on them. They already delayed the game a whole year after backlash, so we still have to wait and see how it will turn out.

GhostScholar198d ago

I think asylum and origins were great. City was good. Knight was horrible.

199d ago
Ezio2048199d ago

You can't expect a game to match 96-94 meta apple for apple. Different era and different gen. No need to diminish either game's achievement. Arkham City and Spiderman 2 are both amazing sequels that improved upon their already incredible first parts.

Tacoboto199d ago

To back that up, there are major websites that adjusted their review scales.

IGN used to have a 100 point system; now it's a 10 point system. I remember GameSpot back in 2004 was razed for giving Halo 2 a 9.4 when IGN gave it like a 9.7 or 9.8

darthv72199d ago

Arkham Asylum was great, but when City came out... wow what a total overhaul that was. Nothing has had that type of night/day difference in scope and scale since.

SM2 is looking to be a great game in itself. Definitely an upgrade over the previous entries. Just from the opening battle with sandman, it gives me god of war 2 vibes with how that one opened with the battle with colossus of rhodes. That is still one of my favorite sequels of all time.

Zeke68198d ago

Thanks for the spoiler how the game starts loser...

darthv72198d ago

Zeke... you've had plenty of time to play god of war 2.

GaboonViper199d ago

And right on cue, here comes the downplaying of Insomniacs masterpiece, not gonna work, this game is gonna be beast in success.

BehindTheRows199d ago

From the same folks who gave it a 10/10 no less.

Aloymetal199d ago

'' here comes the downplaying of Insomniacs masterpiece''

I got 80% trophy completion on Ragnarok but left a few of the battles. Will come back to it one day.

Miraak82 306d ago

Dragon Quest 11 is my top pick

RpgSama306d ago

Dragon Quest XI was such an AMAZING game, I had a blast from the very beginning all the way to the very end, it actually got better the more you played, full of surprises as well.

Another game that I enjoyed from the very beginning all the way to the end of the 100% completion was Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Really, really, really fun game with a great heartfelt story.

badz149306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

Where is Horizon Zero Dawn?? where is Ghost of Tsushima?? I just got my Platinum on HZD and is now trying to finish the Frozen Wild expansion. so much care and love went into that game and it really shows. I especially adore the lore and have sunk many hours listening to the logs and reading journals. the back story is great and the gameplay is awesome. can't wait to replay on the hardest difficulty on NG+. next in my list would be to finish GoTsushima

Tacoboto306d ago

Ghost was fantastic especially after Iki Island and the PS5 upgrade. 100%'d that, Horizon Forbidden West (not ZD), GoW (not yet Ragnarok), Spider-Man, and R&C: Rift Apart.

Each one absolutely worth it.

Aloymetal306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

100% I would like to add to you list RDR2, amazing as well and the perks from getting the Legend Of The East outfit is awesome.
Sekiro as well, have to play twice to get it but it's worth it!

Demetrius306d ago

I agree I'm on my 2nd playthroughs of both horizon forbidden West(zero dawn I played also) ghost of Tsushima except I'm replaying it on PS5 this time, the iki island expansion is amazing

ClayRules2012306d ago

Yeah, GoT was already an AMAZING game on PS4, but playing it on PS5, along with that expansion, just even better.

Elda306d ago

I just started my copy of GOW:R, enjoying it so far.

DefenderOfDoom2306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

Okay the title of article should be top 10 , 3rd person games to complete 100 percent. Nine 3rd person games and 1 racing game on this list .
