Melissa Kaylor to Participate in Video Game Marathon for Charity

Valley resident Melissa Kaylor has a major yen for video games. If you didn't get a chance to speak with her this past weekend at Devastation 2011 (or purchase her old school plastic pixel art), the 24-year-old devotes most of her free time to game-related projects under her online persona "Mel the Office Gamer Girl."

She reviews classic games on YouTube, maintains the local Phoenix Gamer blog, and used to host a monthly trivia night at the now-defunct Cade Gallery.

In between all that, Kaylor also finds time to actually play video games too, on average about two or three hours per day. That figure will rise dramatically on Saturday when Kaylor participates in the nationwide Extra Life 24-Hour Video Game Marathon when she'll work her controller for an entire day to raise money for children's charities.

It’s The Perfect Time For A New Donkey Kong Country

Screen Rant Writes "It's been almost a decade since players have seen a new Donkey Kong Country game, but with the opening of Super Nintendo World, now is the perfect time to release a new DKC game. The last entry was 2014's Tropical Freeze (a slightly enhanced version was re-released for the Switch in 2018), which received rave reviews and between its Wii U and Switch sales, performed very well. The original Donkey Kong Country also spotlighted environmental themes, which would prove to be just as salient if a new entry were to release in the coming years."

Super Mario Bros first please. Plus we still need a current gen Mario Kart.

Number1TailzFan475d ago

Mario Kart will probably be the same rehashed gameplay minus Mission Mode again.

We need a new Diddy Kong Racing.

I would love to see another Double Dash game.

It’s always the perfect time for DKC

No its a perfect time for another 3D Donkey Kong. I dont want 2D anything.

Snookies12475d ago (Edited 475d ago )

I'm halfway agreeing with you on that, lol... 2D is still a fantastic route for Donkey Kong Country to go with. Yet, I still love Donkey Kong 64 to this day, and play it through every so often. I absolutely want a new 3D Donkey Kong game in a similar style. Loved going back through levels with different characters that had unique gameplay aspects. A sequel to DK64 would be the perfect announcement, in my opinion.

I always think about a possible 3D Donkey Kong game, but nothing like DK64, more of a faster paced linear platforming game. Less focus on collectibles, and more focusing on fast platforming action. That'd be amazing for me.

We need more 3D stuff, the side scrollers start to all blend together eventually. The last Kirby game was great and refreshing because they moved to 3D.
