All I know is that my gut says maybe.

imagine if there was no beta; all these bugs and glitches would be in final product i glad there was a beta.

solar4608d ago

these articles are ridiculous. we all know what betas are, what we are subjecting ourselves to when we play them. stop wirh this sky is falling BS.

MariaHelFutura4608d ago

The sky is falling?

Holy sh!t

HeavenlySnipes4608d ago

that all of the bugs we reported are already fixed because the build was old. We are reporting things for nothing actually, because the build in their offices are void of all the beta problems.

This is why many people continue to call it a demo, because DICE knowingly allowed this F'd up build to be released instead of releasing a one closer to what they are actually working on. All we are doing for them is getting a first impression and stress testing the servers (which they kind of already had with the alpha)

killerhog4608d ago (Edited 4608d ago )

Yeah we helped "one map" from being buggy as hell. this "beta" was a huge mistake. my friends kept pestering me about playing it, and when i did, i told them 'i would rather get cod' and that was a REAL feeling. hit detection/damage is off, it doesnt feel at times like if your bullets are making contact on you or the opposition. graphically killzone 3 shits on it.

P.S: stop with the "this is only a 'beta'" the game comes out *"'next month'"*. what we are seeing in this "beta" its more than likely whats going to be on the retail. this game will receive a lot of first week patches, not even first day but WEEK

Yes.The worst beta I have ever played.

Mutant-Spud4608d ago

We know what a Beta is but "we" are a small minority of "hardcore" gamers, the bulk of people who play video games don't, I think the Beta should have been restricted, it isn't a very good look in it's present form.

Kleptic4608d ago

^this

doesn't matter what 'we' think, we understand how the process works...this is by far the worst PUBLIC beta i've come across...i'm saying public as in anyone can play it, with absolutely no strings attached...

thats the mistake...when a company blows the doors open and lets anyone in...the quality of what is available is then THEIR problem...

the only similar example of a big shooter having a beta that I was involved with was Killzone 2...it was invite only...had all kinds of rules that would get you into trouble (you could not put videos up, you were not supposed to show it to others, etc.)...regardless of how easy it was to prove if you had done these things; it was clear Sony and GG really didn't want the general public aware of any issues the game may have had at that point...and the game did end up getting major visual changes by release...

BF3 is the opposite...its currently in worse shape...and EA is letting everyone and their dentist pick it to pieces...oh well, i'm still hooked...i just really don't think EA/DICE has any room to complain about whats being said...its their fault...and no one elses...

Legion4608d ago

I agree Kleptic... the BEST public Beta I have been through was the Halo 3 Beta. It went through a great Alpha phase and by the time Bungie got the Beta to us it was basically a REAL server test. With Beta really just about leveling of weapons and such. Glitches were VERY RARE if any for most.

Bungie knows their sh@t because their Reach Beta was excellent too.

Some companies need to think before they supply people Betas. EA isn't very intelligent in my experience with this Beta alone.

xXFrostXx4608d ago

After playing the beta for about 11 hours I would have to say no, Dice was able to test the servers, get feed back on bugs and give gamers a taste of battlefield game play. There were some really bad bugs in it but overall I enjoyed it and see a lot of potential in it to be a great fun experience.

crimsonfox4608d ago (Edited 4608d ago )

i agree.
i really don't understand all the hate that people are giving this game. since my son was born 2 months ago i have had other things to do, but i have been able to squeeze in a little over 9 hours into the beta and i love this game so far. if he wasnt born yet i probably still playing that beta hardcore right now. i think some people arent used to the games style. i have a friend who refused to play killzone 3 cause he was so used to the way black ops played. but when me and all my friends harrased him to give the game more time he cant get off of it!
i think people need to just get used to it and they would all love the game too.

Szarky4608d ago

I agree with you minus this: "give gamers a taste of battlefield game play" No vehicles=not a true representation of a Battlefield game. It's such a game changer, play a level with no vehicles and then play one with vehicles and it's so much better with them!

Kleptic4608d ago

the BF3 beta, excluding the weird password only test of caspian border, is possibly the LEAST BF like experience any of us have every played...assuming you've played in past games in the franchise...

and that is whats so strange...everyone i've talked to that played caspian border said THAT is what BF3 is going to be about...and that it absolutely screams awesomeness...but operation metro is hot trash, and its crazy just how many people participated in the beta and that thought 'this is BF?'...and want no part of it...

consolez_FTW4608d ago

Well..On Consoles the map they chose was a complete mistake. Alot of my friends and I agree that it doesn't capture that BF feel at all. Just mostly corridor with no vehicles. I'm talking besides the glitches/bugs I think the beta turned off new comers.. but IDK,I'm sure it's just Metro.. I'm still sticking to my pre order.

ddurand14608d ago

It's smart from a strategical standpoint.

The smaller map and quick play are conducive cod players. Some might enjoy this and pick it up. Versus the more wideopen play that myself and Bf vets enjoy.

I'm probably reaching, but it makes sense.

Kleptic4608d ago

I agree 100% that metro seems like a nerfed version of BF, in order to get cod players hooked...problem is, whether any non-cod players admit it or not; CoD IS good at certain types of gameplay...cramped environments, camping encouragement, no need for any team work of any kind, only worrying about kdr, etc...

i'm not saying its bad if players enjoy that or enjoy cod...but cod is better at cod than BF3 is...and always will be...the effects that cod is having on the rest of industry are really starting to annoy me...

multiplayer wise:...Resistance 1, killzone 2, BF...these games had nuts, and their own place in the industry...their own feel, their own identity, etc...

Resistance 2...tried to be CoD, and failed miserably...

Killzone 3...tried to be CoD, and failed not quite as badly...

BF3 beta...tried to be cod, and isn't getting the best community reception...luckily they still have a chance to pull it off...

SH0CKW4VE4608d ago (Edited 4608d ago )

THANK YOU

And that right there is my exact problem with battlefield, If your team is retarded you may aswell spawn and blow yourself up with C4 over & over.

Were as in COD you can actually do something even if your team are complete mongaloids, thats what works against BF, you HAVE to play it with friends and the way it works now with 4 man squads just means even if you have 3 other good players thats 4 good players and 28 complete and utter morons on the bigger maps.

Hufandpuf4608d ago

Yeah, it'd be great if they put a conquest map, or one with vehicles. But they were going for accessibility here. And on top of that, OP metro was redesigned since the alpha so its only right to test it further.

Fishy Fingers4608d ago

Should of kept it a more closed affair, as any real beta should and only needs to be. A finalised build, should be released as a demo for the masses at a later date.

Seems to me, most of the people upset had unrealistic demands for their hardware (console), the game and of course the beta.

ddurand14608d ago (Edited 4608d ago )

I think it has to do more with them using the pc as the lead platform. Ppl.seeing videos and whatnot might not be able to grasp the concept that the pc was the lead and can perform so much better

If I wasn't up to date and saw gameplay from pc and expected the same experience on my ps3 id be slightly disappointed too. Doesn't make it right, but that's how it works.

The game will be better off because of this beta, and that's all I care about

gustave1544608d ago

no. imagine if these bugs was in the retail copy. now that would be a mistake. i just hope DICE fixes these bugs.

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

There are no thoughtful ads in Video Games, EA. Leave them be.

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai5d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga5d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole2d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville3d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

ravens525d ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_5d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville3d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM5d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka4d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_5d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.
