PSN Review - Arkedo Series: 02 - Swap! (ATemporaryDistraction.com)

ATemporaryDistraction.com: "A large quantity of puzzle games that come out post-Tetris/Bejewelled tend to operate under the assumption that in order to be better, their games need to be more complicated. It’s a tactic that rarely works; the best puzzle games are those that embrace simplicity, giving hardcore and casual gamers of all shapes and sizes the ability to pick up and play them instantly during a commute or lazy afternoon without the obstacle of a complex learning curve and usually prove the most fiendishly addictive as a result. Arkedo Studio understand that completely, and Swap! is match-four puzzling boiled down to its most devilishly addictive elemental simplicity."

Diehard GameFAN: Arkedo Series – 02 Swap! Review

DHGF: The Arkedo Series is definitely something that I wish we PS3 owners could have experienced long before, but it is turning out to be worth the wait. Swap is a solid puzzle game with a great deal of strategic depth and enough bells and whistles to keep even the grouchiest of players happy. Hopefully, it will become available for purchase in the U.S. soon. Until then, it might be wise to invest in a European account!

Arkedo Series 02 - Swap! (PS3) Review - BrutalGamer.com

BrutalGamer.com writes, "02 - Swap, or simply Swap!, as I’ll refer to it, is easiest explained by comparing it to Bejeweled, where you match same-colored blocks in order to eliminate them from the gameboard, and mix it with the time-limited urgency of Tetris.

In order to clear blocks, you must match at least four of the same color either horizontally or vertically. With Swap!, you can move… er, swap any block with any other block on the game board. Having the freedom to essentially move any block to any block-occupied spot seems like it might make the game too easy and take away any challenge — but that is NOT the case."
