Atomic Gamer - I'm reminded of Mass Effect 2's Arrival DLC, a half-baked little add-on that ended an otherwise grand and epic game with a bit of a whimper. But where BioWare got some leeway from gamers in the knowledge that there was a bright future ahead and that Mass Effect 3 was on the way, this unsatisfying conclusion to the New Vegas saga leaves me kind of upset that it had to end this way - and a little concerned for Obsidian's future, especially since the studio has already had to lay off people in the last year and we know of no other AAA games they've got up their sleeves.
Examples of DLCs that are NOT cynical cash-grabs are few and far between. These rare gems can significantly expand upon and improve the base game. GameLuster's Nirav Gandhi highlights the top ten DLCs of all time. Publishers take note - these are DLCs done right.
My favorite DLC list would be:
10) Dragon Age Origins: Awakening
9) Assassin's Creed IV: Freedom Cry
8) Destiny: The Taken King
7) Fallout 4: Far Harbor
6) Fallout New Vegas: Lonesome Road
5) The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard
4) The Elder Scrolls IV: The Shivering Isles
3) The Last of Us: Left Behind
2) Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
1) The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
Honorable) Mass Effect 3: Citadel, The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone, FarCry 3: Blood Dragon, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
Also) Fallout 76: Wastelanders (Actually brings some sense to the game) (Should be a standalone offline title)
Where’s Big surf island from Burnout Paradise? And all the extras.
GTA4’s dlc was one of the best ever
Undead nightmare was brilliant My 3 favourites off top of my head great value and great content
Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3 DLC was great, Horizon: Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds DLC was good.

Chris Avellone has been instrumental in crafting some amazing CRPGs during his career, with his most recent contribution to our role-playing game collections being Fallout: New Vegas and its four story-driven DLC packs. To learn more about the concepts, ideas, and design elements that went into the game and its add-ons, GameBanshee fired off a massive set of post-mortem questions to Chris, and have just finished publishing the second half of the Q&A.
