Lens of Truth: Welcome back for another exciting Head2Head! As you know, the highly anticipated Battlefield 3 Beta was released yesterday on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, so what better time to clear up some questions and concerns about how Battlefield 3 performs thus far against, in our opinion, the industry’s best looking and performing FPS?

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks a multiplatform console game can graphically outdo AAA PS3 exclusives needs to seek help and possibly a new brain immediately.

Battlefield 3 on consoles doesn't even come close to Killzone 2, so why compare it to 3? I could gather the textures in one level of Killzone 3 (or 2) and it'd be more than Battlefield 3 has in its entire campaign.

Obviously we're strictly talking graphics here.

This isnt the comparison we are waiting for ... what we are waiting is the loss of visual fidelity across different platform of BF3. Nobody cares about Killzone 3 comparison.

Seriously this is full of truth. Crysis 2 is the best looking multiplatform-game, but the best looking FPS are still Killzone 2 and 3.

I was just over at EA a couple hours ago and they let me play one mission from the single player where we had to liberate some apartment building in Tehran. Apparently it's from early on in the SP.

It looks good but there was nothing particularly impressive about it, it did also stutter a few times. But this was a build from a few weeks ago so maybe it's improved a bit.

They only had it running on a PS3 so I couldn't compare to PC or Xbox.

Just finished playing BF3 beta. Sorry Killzone 2 and 3 destroy it. I'm strictly speaking consoles not pc. Yes its just a beta and thing can improve. I hope they do. But ONCE again you PS3 haters talked up another multiplat title will destroy an exclusive only to have it blow up in your face........ AGAIN! It's just hilarious.

It won't be cleaned up to perfection and that's what I choose to deal with.
Screen tearing to me is like the scratching of fingernails on the chalk board.

yeah man, when in the underground part of the Metro map and things get intense with both teams clashing the fps drops dramitcally and the screen tearing is really noticable on PS3. Plus besides the screen tearing the gun play feels more like MOH than a BF or Badcompany game. So far I'm really dissapointed with this beta. Hopefully they can fix these issue and the balance in BF3 before the game gets released. I was actually considering cancelling my pre order for ps3 too at this point.

I didn't have a good feeling about BF3 from the beginning (judging by DICE's other efforts) and this confirms it. I still don't like their games and their preference for screen tearing.

At gamefest i played a version of the build that i after this beta release(if this makes sense)

I asked the guy because he told us what we were playing was built exclusively for gamefest & other gaming shows/conventions and he stated that it was newer than the beta due to be released.

Anyway to my point, the version i played had no visible screen tearing so i'm not worried and i don't think you should be either :D

Wasn't to impressed with BF3 visuals, they do look good though and it gives you idea of how single play will look like which will look even better.

But...although I don't have KZ3 anymore I installed the KZ3 demo that came on resistance 3 disk just to try the ice level oh man, the texture clarity was unreal, KZ3 is by far the best looking fps this gen by far.

Its true some may not like the setting/art in kz3 but in pure technical visuals I can't see any other fps topping it unless there's a killzone 4

I suspect BF3 single player campaign to look much better than it's multiplayer. From everything I've seen of the PC version the single player trounces the multiplayer pretty bad, so my guess is that the console versions single player will look a lot better than it's multiplayer as well.

Overall though Killzone 3 still has it.

I feel they use ps3 exclusives as benchmarks to test other games of comparable feat.

This is n4g and is full fanboys, however the articles themselves for the most part aren't from n4g. You see...most of them are just links to other sites posted on here. So the news or rumors aren't originated on this site.

I really don't see the ps3 fans dominating here. Sure Sony gets a lot of love, and anyone who praises them is counted as a fanboy, usually by others who are the same.. I see easily as many pc fans and 'multi console' owners on here. And there are many unbiased people too. The reason it seems as if there are many Sony boys is simply because Sony is pleasing a lot of gamers. Same was true when Microsoft was dominant around 2006.

Where are the NUMBER (exclusive game sells, console sells, online sales, etc...), you know those thing would show support instead of just saying they are supporting Sony.

1. Market Share (MS/Sony/Nintendo)currently?
- Compare it to last gen market share?
2. Number of Exclusives and sells?
3. Number of 3rd party games sells?
4. Online Gaming, number of paid subscribers?

These can help u determine if people are actually supporting Sony or not.

Would u even consider/using people on n4g as representatives of all gamers globally?

I'm simply responding to this. I'm asking you how would u determine that Sony is getting support from gamers and by what mean? I even give u a lists of what to look for and ask if you can compare them to other companies (MS/Nintendo) or to previous generation.

1. I didn't say/argue that Sony didn't get any support. I'm asking u to back up your claim. You can start by looking at the lists i gave u.

2. People on n4g like to make statement but never bother to support their claim with evidences. Doesn't credibility mean anything? If you make a claim, u should be able to support it.

Crysis 2. The PS3 beta had BAD framerate issues, pop-in, felt sluggish, poor graphics, and screen tearing issues. It was terrible.

Then the final game. Huge improvement. Definitely one of the best looking console titles.

Even for a beta that screen tearing is terrible. Remember when Crytek pulled the Crysis 2 PS3 demo from PSN because it was old and disgusting? I can see the same thing happening with this.

Please... I have no issue with a good comparison article. But comparing an exclusive game to a beta multiplat is just a stretch. Normally Lens does a good job of comparing multiplat versions so I don't get why they pulled this nonsense.

As for me trolling Lens....umm, I am pretty sure I have never posted to their site. Have I commented here at N4G? Probably numerous times as they post pretty regularly. But if you are gonna post to N4G then expect comments from me one way or another.

killzone looks good because its 2 guys and a wall. its a glorified corridor simulator. gameplay is bland ripping off other FPS shooters and mashing them together and failing hard.

BF3 on ultra settings on PC makes killzone look like tetris on the original fat gameboy.
