Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Review - LAG

LAG - "Metroid Prime 2 Echoes was released in 2004 for the Nintendo Gamecube (Also was released as part of the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the Nintendo Wii, but this is a review of the Gamecube version). It is the sequel to Metroid Prime and the seventh game in the Metroid series overall. It has all of the gameplay elements that were introduced in first Metroid Prime. Although, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes has a more focus on storyline than the previous game and feature a lot more characters than the traditional Space Pirates and Metroids. This is also the first Metroid game to feature multiplayer. While it may not be as great or as innovative as the first Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2 Echoes is still a great game and a good addition to the Metroid series."

8 Best Games Set In A Multiverse

One of the biggest TV and movie tropes in the last decade has been the multiverse, the idea of exploring multiple dimensions to uncover alternate versions of existing ideas. From both a business and creative perspective, it makes sense why established franchises are shaking things up in this way.

However, there aren't many video games latching on to this trend, as rendering multiple worlds in real-time is a difficult feat and the medium is relatively young in comparison to its contemporaries, making crossover opportunities more difficult. Still, there are a few great titles that manage enough to overcome these challenges, and here are some of the best examples.

While I love someone mentioning Planescape, not really multiverse. Planes and dimensions, yes. But, they are typically their own locations and are very rarely tied to another 'verse' let alone another plane. The only things that are directly tied are the ethereal and material planes. Otherwise, they are dimensions created of their own design and goals by the creator/owner and not comprised of 'their own version of another dimension'.

I chance mixed feeling about Metroid Prime 2. I think I’ve beaten Prime 2 three times. I like the atmosphere and enemies of Prime 2 more than its predecessor. However, when I replayed the entire prime trilogy as an adult, I found Prime 2 to be the most frustrating and confusing of the 3 Prime games.

Traveling into Dark Ether was a core at times and some of the bosses felt very poorly designed. I personally think Prime 1 and 3 are better than 2 as an adult. Yet, as a teen I liked Prime 2 more than Prime 1.

I definitely think the first Prime was much better and I found Echoes to be not as much fun with the whole dark corruption gameplay gimmick.

The case is cool, has this holographic effect.

Didn't really care for that one. Had a blast with Prime 1 & 3 however.

Shadow the Hedgehog, Dark Jak, Dark Samus. Ahh the early 2000’s lol.

Ranking the Metroid Games from Worst to Best

From Xfire: "Is Super Metroid still as super as it once was in 1994? If not, which Metroid game is better than the influential title?"

Highrevz1065d ago

I look forward to the day any game beats that Super, Metroid or not.
Hollow Knight come damn near close to knocking Super Metroid from the top of my list, that’s a huge achievement for such a small team.

The problem for me is I’ve been waiting for a 2D Metroid that beats Super but I don’t think I’ll ever see that day. I still play the original 1-2 times a year and a few randomiser plays.

Fully agree with the list and all points it makes for each game. I’m expecting Dread to fit in the middle of that list but I’m happy to be wrong about that.

In my opinion Other M is better than Federation Force
