I don't see why wouldn't they Port it to consoles, more money in their pockets.

I'll stick to the Pc version though, mods will keep me playing.

Marceles4603d ago

Would be cool if it did come to PS3. And UT3 proved PS3 can run mods and have KB and mouse support

Letros4603d ago

Diablo 3 won't have mods.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx4603d ago

I totally for got About UT3 Mods support, I may have to go check whats new lol. They had some pretty fun ones. "Master Cheif On Ps3"

reynod4603d ago

Mods are uncertain on consoles because console makers and developers like to keep control over the games they sell.

They dont like it if a games life can be extended. This only compromises sales of the next game.

UT3 proved modding on console is possible. So why dont more games support modding? well because Console maker is a business after all, they would rather that a new sequel came out the next year and people purchased that instead of being able to mod the older game.

Modding exists on PC because its an open platform and doesnt belong to anyone. Unfortunately with consoles promoting DLCs and milking of games, some devs are now stopping support for mods on PC too, because they would like to be able to milk the PC base just like they do so on console.

fluffydelusions4603d ago

I could see it being PC/PS3 only because Sony is more open with their network (see steamworks) and blizzard will require a constant connection + all the trading etc taking place.

Letros4603d ago

Aye, if this indeed only comes to PS3/PC, I think it is the 1 game to get MS to open their eyes to their closed network policies.

Ramas4603d ago

i bet on consles there will be no need for constant internet. its on PC only to prevent hacking and on PS3 or xbox you cant really do that. And ofcourse on consoles there wount be auction for real money.

net1234564602d ago

@Ramas

I bet you are wrong. Hasnt anybody realized that there is no single player mode in Diablo 3 ?

All data is stored on blizzard server. The "Single Player mode" in Diablo 3 is the same as playing a closed Battlenet game alone in Diablo 2. How else could you sell items you found in Single Player for real money in the Auction House. Everybody could just hexedit all items or download a savefile and sell the items.

Diablo 3 is the same as MAG. No online = game CANT WORK. Even if you intend to play alone.

To Article:

If Diablo 3 is anything like Diablo 2 it will be a game like never seen before on a console with the Real money auction it borderlines to gambling in a casino. Especially when dupes will be impossible Items will go for 500 Dollar + in perfect condition. The guy whos account beats Diablo at highest difficulty first will be able to buy a new car with the money he can get from selling it. Saw it in the news a decade ago. Diablo is a crazy addictive game were stuff can be worth a lot of real cash. If they make a 1:1 port with PC vs PS3 Player it will be something else entirely not comparable to other console games.

And there is NO way MS would allow Battlenet/Real money auction house/PC Player on Live.

If the same accounts can be accessed by PC or PS3 I am buying PS3 version. That way I can sell my Accounts later on ebay after I am done with the game.

Also it was pretty much confirmed that its coming to PS3 a long time ago. Blizzard said its a strong possibility that it comes to consoles and they are seriously thinking about it.

Sure no confirmation but unusual for Blizzard to say stuff like this.

EcliPS34602d ago

@fluffy delusions

Its already coming to the Xbox, mark my words and remember this comment. Im sure Ill get quite a few disagrees for this comment, but ill refer back to it once its official.

Dudes, Diablo 3 has already been confirmed for consoles and Blizzard have a seperate team working on the port. I saw the interview about this and they interviewed the lead designer of the Console version which they said they will get into development stage once they are ready.

Batmau54603d ago

Yes, they have a console team, but nothing has been confirmed at all. Learn what a confirmation is please.

pr13st14603d ago

lol they forbade mods for PC version.

xX-StolenSoul-Xx4603d ago

Someone somewhere will figure out a way to mod it, and when they do i'll be ready to download :)

Jamzluminati4603d ago

I'll be pwning ps3 users on my pc.

Anon19744603d ago

This confused me. Didn't they confirm a console versions of Diablo 3 right from the start?

Newsman4602d ago

Yes and this is a very very old story that never should have been approved

I'll believe it when I see it, they have been talking about it for a long time but have never confirmed anything. I'm sure they see a lot of potential to sell weapons and Armour through PSN or their auction house.

I would like a console version as I have not been a PC gamer since Diablo 2 was in its prime.

One-X4603d ago

I'm not a PC Gamer at all. I've always wanted to play a Diablo game, as a solid RPG fan I always felt like I was missing out a little not playing Diablo 2. If Diablo 3 makes it way to the PS3 then I'm going to be happy for the sole reason that I get to experience the game too (:

Blitz0014603d ago

"A little"??? You miss alot, Diablo 2 is even today one of my favourites. If Diablo 3 comes to consoles, i won't need any other game beside it till the next generation :))

WeedyOne4602d ago

Seriously dude, go get diablo 2 like right now.......... It will run great on a crappy computer so no excuses.

lukasbolander4603d ago

Cool. I don't have a gaming PC, but I would definitely buy it on PS3 if it does get ported.

TopDudeMan4603d ago (Edited 4603d ago )

I'd think about it. I'll have to do some research on what kind of game this is first.

EDIT: interesting, just saw some gameplay footage on youtube and it looks a lot like torchlight.

Solidus187-SCMilk4603d ago (Edited 4603d ago )

yup, torchlight was made by some people who worked on the past diablo games, and it is very similar in its design. Even the guy who did the music for torchlight did the music for diablo 2 and you can hear the similarities.

Diablo is a much darker and bigger game than torchlight tho, and also has a much more developed story.

but torchlight plays very much like diablo and they are pretty similar.

The main difference is that diablo is all about co-op online, something that they are adding to torchlight 2.

I will be getting torchlight 2 to hold me over till diablo 3 comes out.

if you enjoy torchlight you should enjoy Diablo for sure, its very similar but just a bigger, better and darker game.

rjdofu4602d ago

I don't think the system requirement for this game will be too high. At least it doesn't need a beast of a PC to run.

pr13st14603d ago

I'm perfectly fine with a console version as long as it doesn't push back the release for PC, that's the most important part now, and it looks like that's exactly what's happening. stupid blizz.

The Greatest Video Game Comeback Stories in Gaming History

Who says a dud game can't have a video game comeback?

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

thorstein92d ago

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

shinoff218392d ago

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.

Diablo III - Still a Huge Draw in the Face of Diablo IV

Diablo III still works on modern PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and remains hugely playable a decade after initial release.

Palitera401d ago

Are you comparing a continuously improved 10+ years old masterpiece with the... beta of an unreleased game?

kevco33401d ago

Heh, yeah. There's no comparison in here! Its a commentary on how III is still very playable over a decade later.

Diablo III Season 28 Brings a New Use for the Staff of Herding

Diablo III: Season 28 brings with it the Altar of Rites, an altar full of unlockable bonuses and potions that will require the gathering of tons of resources. One of things needed is the Staff of Herding, which also unlocks the famous Cow Level known as Whimsyshire. Here's how to craft that staff, for those that either have forgotten, or have never completed it.
