Wow, certainly didn't see that coming. Homefront 2 should be sick then!

Crazyglues4607d ago (Edited 4607d ago )

oh Hell Yeah!, oh man I can't wait - Homefront was actually a pretty good game I enjoyed the mulitiplayer...

If Crytek does their homework, they can really bring home an Amazing top notch sequel...

This is amazing news... Can't wait to see what they do.

Am I the only one who thinks Crytek are over rated? I mean yeah they can push graphics but there games this gen to me seem to be abit on the 'boring but trying hard to be good' side =/

bumnut4607d ago

I thought Homefront was very poor, I hope Crytek can make a decent game of the sequel, but Crysis 2 multiplayer makes me think it will not be too great.

evrfighter4607d ago

you are right in thinking they are over rated.

Crytek to date has NOT made a game with a lasting multiplayer.

ReservoirDog3164607d ago

@ dangert

Not alone there, Crysis 2 was one of the most disappointing games of the year to me. The apparently good graphics were left bare by a boring artstyle and the gameplay was flat out boring.

HF wasn't great but it had potential to be great. Now...I stopped caring unless they really step up.

If I was the original Homefront Dev team i would be PISSED.

Homefront has sold just as well as Crysis 2 so i really do not see why THQ would ditch Kaos Studios and Digital Extremes in favor of Crytek!

if anything just license The CryEngine3 and let the original Devs continue on with what they created.

Also Cryteks multiplayer sucks on every game they have made and the MP was the saving grace for Homefront in which Digital Extremes has great MP talent from co Development of the Unreal Tournament series.

lugia 40004607d ago

Homefront was average. Good graphics won't change it.

TomInc4607d ago

That would be the case if they were making an exact clone perhaps.

RedDead4607d ago

Yes but Crytek have the balls to make a decent game

cogniveritas4607d ago

I think a game like this belongs in the hands of Bethesda or Rockstar instead. This game needs a bigger open world that you can live in and with people you can learn to care about before an invasion really happens so that you can actually be upset when things get messed up. To acheive that, the timeline would need to take longer to cover also.

RedDead20674607d ago

Planned release in 2014.

I hope it has DirectX 12 support.

lzim4607d ago

so that it can be the only d3d12 game out there and not supported by 8th generation consoles, if they get released, that will still be running directx 9.0c.. fun

Ayepecks4607d ago

FISCAL 2014, which starts in April 2013.

KiasuKiasiMan4607d ago

Bombshell. Homefront had a GREAT Concept, failed in execution. Crytek should be able to remedy that. I still want another Freedom Fighters game

JellyJelly4607d ago

SP was crap but the MP was surprisingly good.

I think Crytek can make wonderful things with the concept.

ShiftyLookingCow4607d ago

Homefront has Koreans and patriotism
Crysis has Koreans and aliens

So I assume Crytek is going to add patriotic and xenophobic aliens to the next game.

Forbidden_Darkness4607d ago

Heck, it's not like we dont have a hundred other games with aliens right? ;P

IM_A_NINJA4607d ago

This is very interesting. I really enjoyed Homefront, I still play it on XBL. It had a lot going for it. Needed to work on the campaign and lengthen it though.

Crytek Gives Brief Update on New Crysis Game; Studio Has a "Great Team" Working on It

Crytek gives an update on their new Crysis game, confirming that it's still in development, with more to share down the road.

DefenderOfDoom2150d ago

Actually would love a new Crysis campaign.

P_Bomb150d ago

Ditto. Ran through them again last year. I’ll grab the new one.

Crazyglues149d ago (Edited 149d ago )

Yeah they really messed up by not adding the Multi-player to the Crysis Triogly because while the campaign was fun I really loved the Multi-player and couldn't wait to see what it was going to be like on current gen.

They could have dropped new maps and DLC and fans would have bought it up... -But they dropped the ball and did just the Campaign's with no new content or story, which was just crazy.

Anyway still hoping Crysis 4 is the whole Chicken Sandwhich with all the toppings.... Can't wait.

PrinceOfAnger149d ago (Edited 149d ago )

Yeah It will probably be 5 years development

SimpleSlave149d ago (Edited 149d ago )

That's awesome. So how long till the studio closes and everyone gets fired?

Series S owners: "but can it run crysis doh?"

Crytek Sends Cease and Desist To A Popular Photo Mode Modder Frans Bouma

Immersed Gamer writes: "Frans Bouma just received a Cease and Desist letter from Crytek, developers of Crysis. Did he pirate their game? Or maybe he infringed on their copyright? What horrible thing did Bouma do to deserve this? Well, he modded in a photo mode so that people could take beautiful pictures and share them on social media."

Open source the code and dump it on the internet.

mastershredder839d ago

"from his Patreon page" Uhhhh yeah.......Oh gee and I wonder why that was problem? You know where this goes there Filip or perhaps you are just not quite yet.

Mazgamer839d ago (Edited 839d ago )

It's astounding how quickly someone uniformed will take a side of soulless company just because a modder might be making some pocket change.

For your information: He puts all of his camera mode mods on GitHub, completely free of charge. His Patreon is nothing more than a way to tip him some cash for his work.

He says so himself on his GitHub page:
I do this for fun, not profit, but can't create cameras for games I don't own. I've therefore setup a Patreon page which allows you to safely support my work".

Are you following "mastershredder", or are you not quite there yet?

Giblet_Head839d ago

I did some digging and from what I can see it's probably the "early access" releases of his mods only through Patreon that may have stirred Crytek to send the C&D. Apart from that his mods are indeed available free of charge through his GitHub page.

CobraKai839d ago

It’s a non-profit mod tho. It confuses me cuz modders can do things like completely overhaul the art assets of a game or add licensed cars, but adding a photo mode seems to get the cease.

Orchard839d ago

I guess they want to be the next T2/Rockstar...

Fishy Fingers839d ago

Rarely do you see something with so much potential (Crytek) shoot themselves in the foot so many times.

BlackIceJoe839d ago

Instead of sending a C&D Crytek should thank him, for this, because this will lead to more people buying and playing the game.
