"A new PS3 system software update, v3.72, will be released soon. With this minor update, system stability during use of PS3 format software and network services has been improved."

Man I like Improvement and all, but I want to see some new features. Well IDK if anyone else is having auto sync/update issue (I know it's been addressed) but I hope it gets fixed with this.

Also Hope the Mic issue is resolved (Some are having issue with PS3 headset)

RememberThe3574622d ago

I don't know if we'll see any new features. Most of their work is probably going into the PS4. If they keep adding features to the PS3 the only thing that'll separate the PS3 and PS4 is graphics.

Chocoboh4622d ago

That's just redundent. Nothing the PS3 has to offer would retract from the PS4. The PS3 doesn't really get any better than it is now.

zeeshan4622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

I hope they fix the Mic volume limit for the Wireless Stereo Headsets recently launched by Sony! And perhaps give us virtual 7.1 surround sound when we watch Bluray!

Getowned4622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

ok im lost here i haven't payed much attention but is there some thing wrong with the Ps3 Wireless Stereo Headset ? i only have used it on single player games i haven't tryed it online useing the mic yet..but i love it so far it just was i needed it sounds great.

WhittO4621d ago (Edited 4621d ago )

zzzz wake me up when we get a good update with actual good features we want that are not exclusive to PS+.. prob when PS4 launches.

Chocoboh4621d ago

@everyone disagreeing with me

Do you guys even know what I meant by that? The PS3 is 6 year old tech they can't add any more features than really what it already has with the so little ram the PS3 has to offer. It just can't run extra features while in-game.

I mean sure Sony could add multi-media features that gamers didn't ask for but whatever.

Sony are not going to extend the PS3s capabilities much further. They will save that for the PS4. To be honest Sony have never seemed to have had a game plan with regards to the PS3s O/S.

Sony are going to have to work damn hard to convince me to buy into a PS4 when it finally comes out.

hiredhelp4622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

Heck guy's they dont need to add anything to xmb its fine as it is.
Its simple its plain, its not too in your face.
Adding more stuff means the system will use yet more resources meaning slower xmb again. Really no need ps3 awsome as it is.

kikizoo4622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

Exactly, don't listen to the "close second" troll, acting like ps3 was a dreamcast since 2006.

The capabilities are close to perfect since a longtime, with better video, photo, 3D, music, etc capabilities than competition, the consoles has the best exclusives, graphics, free online, etc and he is trying to tell to the others misinformed guys, that "sony has to work hard to convince him for ps4" sure, a blind fanboy not already convince by the ps3 will probably never be....unlike real gamers !

"wow the best MP game of the year is hitting the street tonight at midnight and this is the top story on N4G? "

LOL@ the best mp game, but more than that : in every ps3 firmware update, every sales articles, etc you will always see more xboys than gamers (it's funny when they are acting like if they are disapointed for things they don't have)

CloseSecond4622d ago (Edited 4622d ago )

@kikidoo:
So, the ps3 plays mkv files?
Support for ntfs usb drives?
Quickly list media files contained on an external hdd?

Anyway, why is everyone who does not share your view a troll?

Tapewurm4622d ago

@Kikizoo I agree with a lot of what you are saying here ...all the way until you mention something about the best MP game releasing tonight at midnight? hmmmm did we time travel ahead to 11-1-11 already? :)

thehitman4621d ago

When people say Sony didnt have a gameplan regarding the xmb is far from truth. Before the ps3 launched they advertised in-game xmb and lots of features the ps3 didnt get to much later down the road. Why who knows maybe miscalculations, maybe patent blocks or w/e the case may be probably doesnt matter atm but they did have in mind what people wanted they just didnt deliver.

Well if everyone stops suing SCE and hacking the PS3 we WOULD see new features!

hmm usually they update stability than have something new added to the formula, they must be laying ground work for something.. at least I hope.

fooxy4622d ago

Usually it means they added more checks to prevent piracy

3.69 only stopped homebrew.

Meh, it'd be great if they weren't so vague.

Improved stability during usage of certain PS3 format titles is not really all that specific or a useful description. Does it mean the xcrossmediabar won't take 10 decades to load up while I'm playing a game?

That'd be swell if they fixed that. I like to be able to read my messages soon after I receive them.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow6d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo1825d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie4d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere4d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow3d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney3d ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno5d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Inverno5d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

4d ago
fsfsxii4d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno4d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
