This is probably real. And unfortunately, the game (graphics wise) isn't exactly pretty.

Hopefully the PS3 version will look better. All those BF3 promotions based almost exclusively on PC footage might backfire on DICE now.

... The footage isn't from the Metro map (which is multiplayer) nor is it from any trailer.

So it isn't footage from the alpha.

One thing that strike me was that from watching clips that this game might be playable in 3D ... my judgment is based on menu and placement of letters rather in misaligned form.

This kind of design can be seen in the Killzone 3 as well ... where the menu isnt aligned(0,0) of screen but slightly inclined to fit for 3D viewing.

How do you know it's an alpha build? It says nowhere in there that it's at the alpha stage. It just says "developer build". Also, if you think this game is going to look GREATLY better then BFBC2 on the Xbox 360, then you are sorely mistaken.

"developer" build is basically an alpha build....Its an unfinished copy of the game. Only certain developer units should be able to play the game, if this copy is legit.

Also if the game went past Alpha, then it should be in beta, which means Medal of Honor people and so on should of gotten a notification that it was at least being released soon. They can't skip right to the final build, then go back to beta for no reason....

Don't take offense to this, only showing you that this isn't the final build so no need to worry too much.

This is not necessarily fact and likely not true in this case.

Alpha is the most over used developer/producer smokescreen word in gaming today. It is employed to foment the belief that matters will improve. Rarely do we see true alpha builds. Alphas are usually incredibly broken or proof of concept assemblages of code. Pieces of levels may function but you still have a great deal of graphical, audio, and sometimes mechanic placeholders.

Betas, which for a major game is usually roughly 6 months out from release, means all major features are in the game and functioning to some degree. We are well within that window.

This copy leak is likely intentional. The reason I say that is because even a beta build, if it has not been coded for public release requires either a dev unit or at the minimum, a debug unit in order to function. Some kid did not fish an old alpha build from the dumpster and then upload it to youtube by running it on his 360.

Could this be an angry developer or recently fired employee that did this? Yes. But the likelihood of a former or disgruntled employee risking serious prosecution is quite slim. The most probable reason for this incident was an intentional EA leak.

That said EA would want to put a good foot forward. By using low res footage they are also not showing their entire hand. I have no doubt it looks better than it is. As good as a PC? No, and that alone is a poor and desperate reason to attack the gameplay. It reeks of insecurity.

That said, there are far too many gameplay features and elements functioning in a smooth and quite complete manner to, with any degree of common sense, label this an alpha.

Battlefield 3 will surely be leaked, DICE must know this. They should be locking the PC version away big time as that is the version most likely to be stolen.

Its a shame really, but looking at the Deus Ex leak increasing sales, I guess leaks can be good.

Updated: The same guy who leaked the footage reported that the PS3 version was having serious stability issues, though the versions they've got for both consoles are probably a good ways off from the ones going to the manufacturer in 6 weeks.

Jets are on consoles in multiplayer. It does depend on the map though. Some maps are pure infantry, some maps have every vehicle but jets(a lot of maps in BF2 were like this btw), and some maps have everything.

What they do with the console version, is allow the jets to have a huge area to fight in, but the actual infantry section is a smaller part where you cannot leave the boundary.

I read somewhere that the playable area for land and infantry was going to be reduced, but jets can fly all the way out as far as they can on pc. The jets would otherwise run out of room too quickly.

There's screen shots of Bad Company 2 for Xbox and Ps3... now try and tell me those reddit images are reflective of the BF3 final product.

Looks alright. I don't see why people get hyped about graphics personally. I only watched the videos for the gameplay because even if something looks good, it might play terrible.

Really the only thing that interests me is gameplay and I think the Frostbite 2 engine is going to make that aspect a winner. Throw in dedicated servers on the 360 to minimise lag and I think I'm looking at the greatest console shooter created to date.
