Pocket Gamer: 'What if' storylines pitting historical foes against each other in alternative realities is a well-worn technique in games.
‘What if the Nazis and the Allies had fought using futuristic technology?’ is one such question.
‘What if seminal arcade shooter 1942 was rehashed with shinier graphics and could be played on your mobile?’ is another.
AR: Art in Games makes a name for itself with the top-down shooter AirAttack HD. Plenty of games try hard to bring WWII-era air battles to consoles, but this one makes it pop on smartphones, which is no small feat.
Today at Mobile World Congress, Sony Ericsson and Unity Technologies revealed that they are collaborating to bring Unity-based games to the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY smartphone via Union. Union is a business unit of Unity Technologies dedicated to syndicating high quality 3D games on mobile phones, tablets, app stores, set-top boxes, connected TVs and other emerging new platforms.
I'm still super skeptical about the device. The fact I would have to re-purchase any PSN content doesn't thrill me, either.
TBH after watching the launch title videos they look to be iPhone ports of existing games and not very good. Some standard Android games looked better than what was shown. Though I'm interested to see how the PS1 games play on it. Best thing about the device is the dedicated game buttons. Even the specs are less than impressive compared to the other devices shown at MWC. I'd also be skeptical about purchasing an SE device after Xperia took ages to get an update. Personally I'd rather just wait for the NGP...a proper mobile gaming platform.
there is a pool of 350,000 developer's!
it's one of the largest developer pool's in the industry.

Eurogamer writes: "It would be really nice if we could reliably pick an interesting game from each download platform every week, but sometimes you just have to get what you're given.
This week is a pretty good example, with nothing worthy of full investigation on most of the major download avenues. Maybe it's just part of the traditional summer lull, with some key games being held back. Or maybe it's just how the chips landed. Whatever the reason, we had a steaming pile to waft away from your delicate senses, resulting in this rather Apple-skewed selection."
