Analyst: DS Redesign Done, Uncharted & Haze At Risk

Pacific Crest Securities' Evan Wilson says new version of Nintendo's portable complete; holiday release torrent creating retail woes.

Wilson notes that not all games will be affected by insufficient retail space. "Clearly, the end-of-year squeeze creates limited space at retail, which limits the size of initial orders of games with less publicity and reorders of games with lower quality." He anticipates games with high preorder rates such as Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4, Assassins' Creed, Mass Effect, WWE, and Rock Band to be less affected by insufficient retail space. "Titles that could be at risk of getting squeezed," he continues, "include Haze, Kane & Lynch, and Uncharted."

But in any case, I agree with you that Uncharted looks like exactly what this holiday season is missing. I mean we have a lot of FPS and music games, but there's no clear action adventure game that's really as cinematic and immersing as Uncharted.

Do these analysts even play video games or do they rely on others telling them the hype? Granted Haze is still uncertain, but I think just about all PS3 owners are going to be buying Uncharted and R&C by Christmas.

New DS redesign... Aren't people tired of paying again and again for the same hardware? I hate these redesigns (PSP lite, DS lite...).

As for titles at risk, I think Haze has a better situation since it's coming in December and not in middle of COD4 and all other monsters of November.

I think redesigns are great as long as the price is the same. Most people dont use GBA carts on DS(not me, as I want to play FFTactics Advance sometime) so I think they would prefer the new one with better display.

No one has to pay again. You see people quite often with multiple home consoles. Why not handheld consoles, too?

So long as they can't play any new games, they can call it whatever they want, but there is no more incentive to buy it than there was to buy the little PS when you already had a big one.

Some things you just cant predict.

Ive played the demo of uncharted and it is nothing short of incredible. It is not at risk in the least. I dont know about haze because that is a work in progress but will probably be at least a good game if not great. To say these games are at risk is just speaking too soon and its a good thing these analysts dont use their real names or else they would eat their words.

A redesign is ok, a SECOND redesign is not. But, in the end of the day, if one doesn't have a handheld yet, its for his profit to have 3 options, instead of 1 and I don't really care as long as I am happy with my own one.

Man these 'analaysts' crack me up...if he was minimaly informed about Uncharted he would know that the ad-campaign (including TV spots) for the game will start up big time next week, across the US (and the rest of the world will get the ad camapaign closer to the release date on each specific region I woudl guess).

So yeah, I don't really think Uncharted will get 'squeezed'.

Can't say the smae about Haze though...14th of Decemeber is offly close to Xmas. most ppl will already have bought their games for Xmas by then, IMO...

I don't think Haze and Uncharted are at the risk of anything... Lair sold nearly 400,000 units so far. The bar for Ps3 games, sales wise, are set very low. Very very low. Uncharted should easily sell 500,000... right? "ha" Either way... Something needs to be done. The ps3 can be bought for the same price as the xbox 360, with even more functionality, but yet... it isn't selling the units and it's damn sure not selling the games. I think Sony knows going into everything that none of their games, other than Resistance and Motorstorm are going to sell 2 million copies. It's over for them. Lets face it. They're the contingency plan. A back up if you will.

Its all about sale as the console continues to sale over the years. Just like Resistance is almost at 3 million now worldwide. I will be trying out both of these sometime soon. Also UT3.

What makes these gamespot "analyst" predictions more important than your every hardcore games word? It seems they just try to bash the PS3 with every article they can-

Of course they pick on Haze and Uncharted, PS3's first party titles. Didn't Halo sales skyrocket on the 360? So Haze, a game very similar to Halo's style, how will this game be "at risk of getting squeezed"? Are retailers not allowed to display PS3 games anymore? This is a useless article.
