EA on Battlefield 3 vs Modern Warfare 3: “We intend to lead”

“We’re all in. We’re going for it” says EA’s Frank Gibeau on the subject of Battlefield 3 battling it out with Modern Warfare 3 this Autumn, because “If we’re going to go after a category, we intend to lead.”

LOL not if they Keep Ignoring Xbox360 version and only xbox360 can catapult Battlefield 3 ahead of Modern Warfare 3.

U just can't expect PS3 version to sell much at all.

Gazondaily4649d ago

Core- do you get some sort of pleasure trolling the way that you do? You're only making yourself look stupid.

OT- I'm tired of these articles. I can't wait for the games to be released so we don't have to read article after artcile on the same nonsense.

LOGICWINS4649d ago

This is just the beginning. Once both games come out, expect idiot articles comparing Metacritic scores and such.

BattleAxe4649d ago (Edited 4649d ago )

Core, how are they ignoring the 360? You're going to get to play the game so whats the big deal.

On topic:
EA won't be leading anything, especially since they're ignoring Steam. Once people realize that EA is making a vanilla version for consoles, then I think it will tarnish BF3's reputation. Personally I'll be playing Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 on PS3, and I might buy MW3 on Steam. If EA pulls their heads out of their "you know what" and releases BF3 on Steam, then they will have me as a customer.

TheFirstClassic4649d ago

The only reason I come to these articles is because everyone else is.

gamingdroid4649d ago

EA already is leading, they are leading at customer unfriendliness with Online Passes!

Isn't the PC version the one DICE is focusing on? BF is a PC game first, the console version is for some side cash.

I miss the days when you could actually laugh at the troll comments. It was the main reason I came to N4G lol

Kee4649d ago (Edited 4649d ago )

That is correct, but the point he's making is that they've mostly showed PS3 footage (console wise) plus the 360 version is on 2 discs so... yeah.

I know he's trolling but I can sort of see where he's coming from. All trolling is based on some sort of valid opinion. No matter how distorted and rude it sounds.

shooter7474649d ago

What he said is a fact. We all know BF3's platform is dedicated to the PC but the gamer numbers are not in the PC platform but consoles. He's saying if they follow this strategy then there's no way BF can overtake COD. Your reading comprehension is way too poor.

MAJ0R4649d ago

ignoring Steam is a much bigger mistake

Lazy_Sunday4649d ago

The PS3 sales will be great if they got more people into the game. What do I mean?

Put the beta up on the store to get people into it, not just have the beta restricted to those who bought Medal of Honor (like me).

Advertising would help too. I think a lot of people have forgotten how advertising affects sales--I mean, look at Deus Ex--advertising on ESPN, FOX, FX and Comedy Central--not just Youtube--has certainly helped it achieve what would have potentially been boring sales-wise. Same goes for LA Noire, they did a great job advertising. I mean, even those GameStop commercials would help. Looking at games like Killzone 3 and Socom that could have potentially been successful, yet didn't advertise, really dented what could have been a successful launch for an other words "okay" game. I saw the Kevin Butler ad, yes--on Youtube, Playstation Blog, and Hulu. But I never saw them on any popular TV channels that the age group interested in the game would purchase.

Fans are great for fueling a game's ideas and directions but they don't so much affect sales on console, since the population of people who own and play games on consoles are much higher than the population of fans actively voicing their opinions. Unless the fans are the sole audience--PC Gamers, for example, are, for the most part, hardcore fans and active customers, and make up the majority of the consumer base for PC gaming.

Console fans--while loud and rampant--can not meet the volume of the consumer's purchase. We need to rise up as gamers and accept this, and help the games and devs we support not by frivolous fan battles, but by helping them make their game popular. Give them suggestions, beg them to advertise--and it'll go a long way for the underdog, I guarantee it.

Comment found on reddit and edited "Buy both? F that. Pick a side you commie! We're at war! It's why I bought an Playstation and automatically hate Microsoft. It's why you drink coke and have sent violent letters to Pepsi. It's why I own a dog and spit on kittens. No flip flopping!"

well i DON'T care about the OLD engine and same gameplay(which is GOOD)i am buying MW3 after having seen the killstreaks getting revamped, dedicated servers on PC, LAN support and 60 fps...
honestly i was excited about it since way back....

Karlnag34649d ago (Edited 4649d ago )

Yes, because on PC Battlefield 3 will obviously be 100% incapable of reaching 60fps. /s (since some people will genuinely need it -.-; )

Also, why do you bring up the old engine and same gameplay? The guy that is quoted in the article doesn't talk about that in any way. He doesn't even directly mention MW3 at all, let alone bash their engine or gameplay.

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman11d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath211d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.
