Dead Island to receive day one patch

STN Writes:

As you know by now, we published our review of Dead Island this morning, giving it a rating of good and generally showering it with praise, which to be fair, it's worthy of.

However, as mentioned in our review, the game is not without its issues, with pop-up, crashes, screen tearing and other problems blighting this otherwise great game.

Well we can now confirm that you lucky gamers out there may not even have to put up with these issues thanks to a day one patch which will be released from tomorrow, which our contact tells us that this will zap many of the problems within the game.

? How many people on N4G are gonna call this a rushed game and should of shipped with the patch? -_-

JohnApocalypse4625d ago

I aint got no problem with this. Its better then in having the game fixed a month after it comes out

fluffydelusions4625d ago (Edited 4625d ago )

Yeah I don't get why people complain about a patch that fixes bugs. I develop Android apps and hear people complain about updates too...go figure.

TheMyst4625d ago

People complained about the R3 patch simply because they were fanboys trying to make it seems as if it were the end of the world. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I'm glad that devs fix their games on the first day rather than wait and make us suffer with bugs and whatnot.

Sevir044625d ago

These same people who called R3 a rushed game said they were not buying it and that Dead Isle would be the game to get... Lmaooooooooo! Now two days later Dead Isle Devs confirm that their game has issues so they are patching it at launch.... Where are the trolls? Fanboys? Elitists? .......... ........ ... Crickets, no where to be seen or heard. Back under your rocks, bridges and into your caves? Yeah I think so!

No Way4625d ago (Edited 4625d ago )

You lose all credibility with me, when you can't even get the name right..

Sevir044625d ago

-_- dude, i say Isle because its short for saying island! check that shit at the front door.

Kran4625d ago

Clearly you're a PS3 troll...

Dead Island has been around for around 5-6 years. (Its true.)

Resistance 3 has been in development for 3 years.

Neither games are rushed (clearly).

antz11044624d ago

Wow, bothered much? You're the one who brought up R3. So would you rather Techland DIDNT release a patch ASAP?

Oh, and island and isle are two different words, Thesaurus Man. :D

As a fellow reviewer I can not believe you mentioned the bugs that were in the game, when they SENT YOU A LIST OF THE ISSUES! Thats why they send those, so you dont ramble about them in the review.

also, what does this have to with the psp category? fail n4g approvers.

JellyJelly4625d ago (Edited 4625d ago )

I agree with you. I've read a lot of reviews for it and I've seen almost all of the issues that the patch fixes being mentioned.

It wouldn't be more than right for them to post a "second opinion" after the patch is active.

Jack_DangerousIy4625d ago

I seriously doubt, that with your attitude, many people enjoy reading your "reviews".

Jerks usually don't have many followers.

xTHRASHx4625d ago

Well I got the copies of Dead Island, along with the notes. And read them carefully. Unlike this reviewer, and other sites who shamefully put the review up pre-embargo.

And you may judge for yourself: http://www.hookedgamers.com...

geddesmond4625d ago

Lol its funny how things work isn't it. 2 days ago an article mentioning Resistance 3s first day patch was flooded with comments from people saying the game was rushed, first day patches are unacceptable, I'm not buying this game now because I'll have to wait 10 minutes for the patch to download, patch station 3, exetera, exetera, exetera.

Fast forward to now and a multiplat title gets none of that heat. Fanboys are so predictable.

KingSlayer4625d ago

Performance patch for both 360/PS3 huh? So much for the 360 being superior. LULZ

fluffydelusions4625d ago

I'm wondering had this been in the game if reviews may have been different. Many reviews seemed to complain about the bugs.

JellyJelly4625d ago

Although the issues with the PS3 version was framerate drops, sound clipping, increased pop-in and screen tearing.

None of which are mentioned in the list for the patch. Nice try though.

KingSlayer4625d ago

The 360 version suffers from all the same issues Gomer. And "Fixed a number of issues causing game instability." is what corrects all of them. Jelly is a fitting name. LULZ

Why is this in the PSP section?

Dead Island 2 devs believe a Dead Island remake would be a “mistake”

We might be in the age of remasters, but it doesn't look like the Dead Island 2 devs believe remaking the original game is the right move for the series.

but remakes require far less effort for these companies and they can still charge $70 for them!

Feel like everyone makes fun of Skyrim re-releasing like 18 times yet applaud these remasters elsewhere. Would much prefer NEW games

CrimsonWing69415d ago

Making sequels really is the way to go. Otherwise we'll be stuck playing only the first entry, forever!!!

Dead Island's 2011 reveal is still the best game trailer of all time

Josiah Motley of KnowTechie writes: "I love video game trailers. While I don’t believe they are an integral part of a game’s success (especially these days), there’s something about a well-produced trailer that really just reminds me why I like video games."

Also the most misleading of all time

SDuck827d ago

How so? Because it focused on a family that you see dying? (innocent question, haven't gotten a chance to play any Dead Island game yet)

aconnellan827d ago

More the tone of it - the tone of the trailer suggested something personal and dramatic, but the game was very much reminiscent of Left 4 Dead in that you were just there to kill zombies and nothing more

Ashby_JC827d ago

You play as a singular character there is no family involved at all in the game. Still a stand out trailer that I remember clearly from years ago.

Fntastic827d ago (Edited 827d ago )

Did you not like the game?

I remember going in expecting a L4D style of game, but the excessive camera swaying honestly made me feel ill, and it's rare for a game to do that to me, still don't understand why the need for anything other than maybe a subtle slight camera movement when doing melee attacks etc. Other than that i didn't really find the game that good. In all honesty i had more enjoyment out of DNF, and i know many people crap on that game.

BioShockGX826d ago

I still remember this misleading controversy

RickRoland827d ago

It’s the music. It’s perfect. I agree with this for sure, it is well choreographed….unfortunately the game didn’t live up to the trailer.

brewin826d ago

Maybe not, but it was still a good game. I liked how they expanded things with Dying Light, but Dead Island was a great first attempt! I really liked all the Easter eggs and homages to other horror franchises sprinkled throughout. Sure it was a little cheesy and over there top, but it was a good happy medium between Far Cry and Fallout with zombies.

EmperorDalek827d ago

I'm gonna heavily disagree with that.

CrimsonWing69827d ago

Have you ever seen any of the MGS 3 or MGS 4 trailers? Those blow this out of the water for me.

TricksterArrow827d ago

They require prior knowledge of the franchise, tho. You show this trailer to anyone, and I mean ANYONE, and they can understand what's going on and relate to the family dynamic almost immediately. No need to know who is Snake, or Fox Hound, or Raiden, or Metal Gear...

Top 10 Xbox 360 Games That Need to be Backward Compatible

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

Max Payne 3 needs to be on that list.

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1040d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

MetalProxy1040d ago

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1040d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1040d ago (Edited 1040d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.
