Extended House of the Dead: Overkill banned in Australia

In the same year as Australia is set to receive an R18+ adult rating for video games, another title has met a grisly fate, effectively banned Down Under.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the Extended Cut of House of the Dead: Overkill did not please the Australian Classification Board, which has given the game the dreaded Refused Classification label.

get it on ebay import it then

Michael-Jackson4632d ago

You can but there's a slim chance of getting caught. If you did get caught, you get a big fine. I personally would not take that risk.

LoaMcLoa4631d ago

Serious? Here in Sweden, Dead or Alive: Dimensions is banned in some stores for "child-pornography", but you wouldn't get in any trouble if you imported it.

What is this, alcohol?

manumit4632d ago

why don't they re-release it in Australia when they get the R18+ rating?

gaden_malak4632d ago (Edited 4632d ago )

The law isn't retroactive, meaning anything that was refused classification will not be reviewed again.

manumit4632d ago (Edited 4632d ago )

I'm not saying your wrong but Fear 2 got refused and then Warner Bros. asked for a re-approval.

@below: ahhh okay, cool thanks.

dotarray4632d ago

They may well do that, but there's a time restriction on how quickly the publisher can resubmit a game that has already been classified.

The FEAR 2 decision was overturned on appeal, nothing to do with an R18+ rating.

JohnApocalypse4632d ago (Edited 4632d ago )

They seriously need an 18 rating over there

kwicksandz4632d ago

Dont get why this got banned but the wii version got through. its the same game isnt it?

dotarray4632d ago

This one has "remastered" levels ;)

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken31d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake31d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Jingsing31d ago

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol

SEGA’s Switch Predecessor: What Happened to the Nomad?

Sega had such a turbulent existence from the mid-90s to when they dropped out of console manufacturing entirely in 2001, it’s understandable if you’ve never heard of the Genesis Nomad.
