YouTube’s ‘club4ghz’ has released two videos, showcasing the performance difference between CRYENGINE V and CRYENGINE 3, as well as the performance difference between CRYENGINE V’s DX11 and DX12 modes.
CE5 has a higher framerate but CE3 looks better at times...
I guess this is because CE5 is just supposed to be a Cryengine for VR and not much more

Crytek bossman Cervat Yerli had this to say about the Crysis games: “Crysis 1′s intention was, if I were to play it three years later, it looks great. And it does, actually, it fulfilled that. But it made it difficult for entry-level players. So with Crysis 2, we took a different direction, and it backfired a little bit.”

Crytek 3 engine is impressive and looks very nice. That said, this demo didn't seem to show its real capabilities. The setting are set to "high" which explains many of the "flat" looking textures. The video is nice, but to really show the engine the settings should be maxed. As is, Crysis 1 looks a lot better.
However, the video's intended purpose is to show the included map rather than the engine's capabilities.
