Soul Calibur IV's Hilde "point of shame" for Namco. Fixed for SCV.

@XG247 Soul Calibur V producer Hishara Tayo spoke to XG24/7 earlier today whilst showing off the latest in the Soul Calibur series.

During a presentation of the fighter, Hishara Tayo stated how Hilde's completely unbalanced stats in Soul Calibur IV meant she was banned from being used in tournaments and was largely disliked. Tayo-san said how the unbalanced nature of Hilde was "a point of shame for us."

I wonder will she be using the same weapon set or different?

Seventh_Blood_Reborn4655d ago

Why should she be using different weapon set?

Myst4655d ago

I don't know the complaints about it had me thinking could they tweak it so that instead of the flag something else. I'd assume that was part of the main complaint.

zerocrossing4655d ago

I wasn't aware of the unbalanced Hilde problem, But I cant say I played as her much. Well problem solved so no worries right?.

Ser4655d ago

I had way more trouble with Kilik online...Just typing the name reminds me of the horror.

zerocrossing4654d ago

10 rounds in a row one time a had against a kilik player online, and got my backside handed to me each and every time... The horror the HORROR!

mrsatan4655d ago

"Hishara Tayo also mentioned how the fighter Voldo was often cited as being to hard to play as, with many players opting out of using him. Voldo has, like Hilde, been tweaked to be easier to use."

I love this since Voldo is one of my favorites. I never used to like him in the old games, but if you know how to play him correctly, you can tear shit up. I remember destroying my friends in the last Soul Caliber with his ground crawl attack. Ah good times!

On a side note, I never really noticed that Hilde was unbalanced since me and my friends never used her very much. I always thought her lack of speed was harmful.

Baka-akaB4654d ago

Not fan of voldo being easier personally . I liked his harsh but rewarding nature ... and given Soul calibur's usual balance issues each game , i'm afraid it will get him nerfed in sc6 or a patch for sc5 .

Kinda like they neutered Ivy for a while , after making her a bit too easy and powerful .

mrsatan4653d ago

Yeah Soul Caliber was never that balanced. We were able to find a pretty good middle ground though withe the custom armor. Making a guy you think is cheap worse with a crappy armor set is a decent way to go.

Soul Calibur IV - 15 Years of Soul

Soul Calibur IV launched worldwide 15 years ago, bringing with it the best performance of the series to date.

Terry_B290d ago

Hell no. It was the start of the downfall (SCV) of the series. Huge downstep from the giant SCIII

purple101290d ago

Switched to unreal engine. Ruined it.

Yi-Long289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

Used to love this series, probably my favorite 3D fighter, perhaps together with the now also dead Dead or Alive (2-3-4), but as with so many games in the fighting genre, their short-term greed (season passes) has made me lose all interest, sadly …

sagapo289d ago

Yeah, I remember playing Soul Caliber on my dreamcast at the time, that was insane!

sosro289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

the first three are much better games.

Walweeze289d ago

Loved Number 2 and 3( loved all the solo modes like chronicle of the sword ) so was super hyped when 4 came out but the lack of single player content was disappointing. Still love soul calibur to this day though

DarXyde288d ago

2 was definitely the golden era of Soul Calibur for me. I was a bit conflicted about it at times because there were 3 different versions (I liked the PS2 version for controls, I liked playing as Spawn the most, and I thought the addition of Link was really awesome). Even so, the single player content was outstanding. Easily the most fun I've had with a fighting game, followed closely by Tekken 5's single player modes

Soulcalibur 5 will be delisted next week on PS3 and Xbox 360

Soulcalibur official Twitter: "Valiant Warriors - Soul Calibur V is taking its final curtain call on the stage of history and will be sunset on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 19, 2023. The base game and all associated DLC will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you for your continued support."

-Mika-339d ago

This is why guest characters shouldn't be on the base roster. Im sure Ezio and the whole Assassin's Creed stuff license expired and that is why it is being removed. The same thing is probably going to happen to Soul Calibur 6 in 10 years.

Terry_B339d ago

I doubt a lot of people still played the worst SC game over 10 years after its release on dead consoles.

blackblades339d ago

Right whoever wanted the game would've had it by now. Also physical is usually the better option

gold_drake339d ago

damn.

alot of games have been delisted recently.

Nyxus339d ago

Meanwhile several big games are going digital only. Good omen for the future...

MadLad339d ago

I've been mainly gaming on PC for 12 years now. I don't think there was ever a game that was actually taken away from me.
Even the multiplayer-focused games, with their servers typically being taken down, you can still host your own.

Not sure why People are so against digital. You still need online infrastructure just to update your games or to patch them. You're stuck to online/digital one way or another.

Nyxus339d ago

Most games play just fine without an internet connection. There are also other reason aside from preservation, digital games are often more expensive (at least the one I'm buying) than what you can find through deals in stores. But most of all I just like to be able to actually own the games as physical objects, being able to lend them out etc. And be assured that I can still play them in the future. Sure you can probably emulate them, but I prefer to play on console and I'd rather play an actual copy than an emulation anyway.

I'm not against digital in itself, I just don't want to be forced to go digital because the physical option is taken away. Just give people the option to either get it physically or digitally, that way everyone is happy and it's also the best way to preserve games for the future.

CrimsonWing69339d ago

Make your peace with it. It’s the direction the industry is going in.

XiNatsuDragnel339d ago

Well industry is pretty much dead in that case.

lucian229339d ago

Can we please get soul cal 7 a year after tekken 8?

darthv72339d ago

Good thing I have both on disc.

"Let Me Solo Her" Receives A Special Award From Namco Bandai For His 1000th Victory Against Malenia

Immersed Gamer writes: "Let Me Solo Her is a legendary Elden Ring player who mastered one of the most infamous bosses to help his fellow tarnished via co-op. And for his service, he received an award from Namco Bandai to commemorate his 1,000th victory. The reward in question is a real, and extremely dope, custom-made sword.

Malenia is regarded as the hardest boss in Elden Ring, and the relentless Tarnished has defended literally thousands of hosts against this malice. Let Me Solo Her apparently passed 2,000 Malenia kills a while back, but it’s hard to measure the exact count he is at now. Bandai Namco sent the gift his way when he was at around 1,000 kills. But due to the nature of the object, it got stuck in customs for a while!"
