think of it this way. it's only $19 per week(nfl season is 18 weeks long) you could easily spend more then $19 if you went to the bar each weekend

Blame NFL for giving the rights to DTV which is a monopoly now, they can charge $500 if they want to, demands is there, so they can exploit it the way they want it...

That price is insane. I'd be willing to pay $50 to only watch my team's games (Rams), but full price is just insane. Maybe I'll find someone with the service and give them a few bucks so I can use it on my ps3.

@KingSlayer... if you are already a subscriber to Direct TV it will be an additional $50 to use your PS3 as a receiver. What they aren't telling you is that you need to subscribe to a package that has the NFL Ticket as well (it is an additional cost) in order for you to see any of those games.

I wasn't clear. I have DirecTV and NFL Sunday Ticket. $50 to use it as a receiver seems slick. The service for a year if you already subscribe is $334...I opted for the $60 breakdown.

I am shocked at how many people are shocked at the price. While I admit its high... this is only a few bucks more than Direct TV is charging people and have been for a while.

You can hardly complain when you're paying an extra 5 or so bucks to get a service you want, but without changing providers.

Yup, I work at Directv. If you want it installed right now, you would have to wait a month in a lot of places due to high demand caused by the Football season. Happens every year. If you are rich and a big football fan, you have the Sunday ticket. It really is awesome too. I get it for free :)

say your a Jets fan but you live in Green Bay. your only gonna see the jets on tv if they play on Monday or Sunday night. other than that it's packers viking bears lions. so plop down $400 and it's 16 games of

Yeah it's a ripoff. I used to have Direct TV exclusively for this but it's way too expensive, I can go to a bar and get a meal and watch the game there for less that what this breaks down to a month. Now if they offered a reduced package just for the PS3 I might consider it but that price is exactly what they charge everyone else.

I wish that was the case... If they obviously can use the ps3 as a receiver, why not just go ahead and bring full blown dTV service to it by treating it like any other receiver. Sure there are business reasons they can't do that yet, but looks like it could be in the future.

Eh, I live in the NY metropolitan area so we already get at least 4 games a week and usually the good games too. If I lived out of the area and already had direct tv the extra $50 wouldn't be a bad deal.

If you're not a PS3 owner but have DIRECT TV, and buy the Sunday Ticket every year, this a win/win situation. They can get a PS3 AND Sunday ticket for less than what they would normally pay for just Sunday Ticket. Sony and DIRECT TV need to advertise the shit out of this. I got guys at work going out today to get a PS3 for this coupled with Netflix.

How? PS3 is $250, Annual Sunday ticket sub is $350 and to use the PS3 as an additional receiver is another $50. So if you buy a PS3 just to use as a receiver for this it's an additional $300.

Hmm... I love the NFL, but I long ago stopped paying for the NFL ticket. Once it hit $200 that was too rich for my blood for what amounts to 18 days out of the year regardless of who or how many games I could see that Sunday. $340? That feels incredibly steep...and why would anyone pay an extra $50 to be able to run the ticket via their PS3 when they already can run it off their normal boxes in the house?

I mean its great that Sony got this deal but for PS3 owners I just don't see this as some huge win fall.

I hadn't realized Sunday ticket had gotten so expensive. That said, this is a huge coup for Sony in the US. I don't own a PS3. But this will make me get one. Sony needs to take on part of the cost to get the price down. But this could finally pull them ahead on the US sales.

Since the Fox channel sucks balls(they do NFC and CBS does AFC) because they always show local teams and never switch off blowouts, I have to watch the fucking Bears or the Rams every week and hope they switch to the Redskins.

The big deal about this is only directv had this service so you were screwed if you had another provider. Now you can get it on the ps3 also. Thats big and it seems like alot(i think its too much)but directv has been getting away with it for years so somebodys buying. Football is huge in america!!

I love American Football. So much tactics involved. Its like real life chess in action...with burly men. Really the only sport that I care about. Baseball is also really good. Everything else is just average to me. This is good in a way. Direct tv has a huge monopoly on NFL. They basically control everything when it comes to football. I'm also a Direct tv customer so I might actually get this.

Saw the price, too rich for my blood. Still though this is a great deal if you don't have Direct TV. In short NFL Sunday Ticket is no longer exclusive to Direct TV and It's only 5$ more than you'd pay on direct TV.

After reading N4G for a long time, I finally joined just to respond to this. You all don't realize what a big deal this is- as a long time Jet fan no longer living in NY, it is always a huge concern how I am going to watch the Jets. The biggest complaint about NFL Sunday Ticket is not the cost, it's that you have always needed to have Direct TV to get it. Some people either can't get reception or don't want to make the change. This is (as far as I know) now the FIRST AND ONLY ALTERNATIVE to having Direct TV and will finally give a lot of NFL fans an option.

The current "free" offer for new subscribers is not very good- you will pay full price next year if you want NFL ST- plus you are bound to a 2 year subscription which, at a minimum, will cost approximately $400 this year and go up to $800 next year.

While it is expensive, compared to going to a sports bar every week to watch an out of market game or two, this is a VERY VIABLE OPTION and will sell at least one or two PS3s (perhaps more than that!)

Umm, you really need to read the fine print. Are you an existing subscriber? They probably gave you discount for NFL ST because they knew existing subs would be angry over the "free" offer.

For a new subscriber, the free NFL ST requires a 24 month agreement starting with a minimum package at $29.99 for first 12 months- then it bumps up to the regular price of $65 per month and you only get free NFL ST for THIS SEASON. Good luck trying to cancel before your 24 months are up.
