TheSixthAxis Review: Cubixx HD

Cubixx HD takes a little while to click – the initially deceptively simple gameplay soon making way for frantic attempts at high scoring combos and ever more daring, dangerous leaps of faith across every face on the cube. When it does, Laughing Jackal’s PlayStation 3 high definition, super slick upgrade of one of the best Minis made hovers on the cusp of absolute, delightful joy, its cool vector lines and repetitive backdrops combining with driving, bass-heavy rhythms and enough bleeps and bloops to make you think the likes of 90′s ravers Bassheads were involved.

The Mini version is fantastic, can't wait to see what the HD version is like and what changes are made.

Cubixx HD Review - Pixel Related

Years ago, Qix was a neat puzzle game. You were on a 2D level where you had to cut out the environment while avoiding enemies. Then, years later Cubixx was released as a PSP Mini, a title that could be played on both the PSP and PS3. Cubixx was so successful that the developers were able to remake the title on the PS3 as Cubixx HD. Now, the title has been ported to Steam and it mostly holds up, but players may find the release somewhat unneeded.
