The hottest rumours for GamesCom 2011

GamesCom starts tomorrow with the EA press conference, on Wednesday GamesCom opens their doors. There will probably be some big game related announcements. What are now the hottest rumours for GamesCom 2011?

I'm personally hoping for a PS3 price cut (I want a Slim), as well as new footage of Vita and Wii U games.

The price cut won't change much for retailers considering on how much the ps3 is selling now.

I didn't realize that European retailers had already lowered the PS3's price in anticipation. 50 euros, that's about $70 or so. So if Sony makes it official, PS3's will be $229 maybe? Or will Sony just take it down to $199? Certainly that would boost their sales which have started to slow. I figured they'd cut the price when they set their target at 15 million for the fiscal year. There was no way that was going to happen without a price cut. They have to have something up their sleeves.

We'll soon know about that... Even if the pricecut don't come, the next fiscal quarter ends with August if I remember the sales talk righ, so we'll see how they are doing and if they need a price cut. Historically their third fiscal quater (holidays) are the big sales monthes, so I think we can guess that if they are on the schedulle they shall report something like 35%º45% of those 15 million in half the fiscal year. That's around 6m consoles sold by the end of august... Now to the wait game.

EDIT: I mean 6m sold in this fiscal year so far, which started on April 1st 2011.

a ps3 price cut will happen this year maybe at gamescom maybe at TGS.

Syphon filter is in development since sony registered a trademark about 2 years ago for new syphon filter

SM studios are working on 4 unannounced games so chances for one of them to be shown i would say are great

Even though GTA V would be cool I have little craving for it. I wouldn't mind if the release it in the next 3-4 years.

That probably means we are already in the next generation and that means we only got one real GTA game this generation.

That would be a stupid marketing move from Take Two and Rockstar.

And you are right, I do not crave for it. GTA IV wasn't that good in my opinion. But an announcement during Gamescom and a release at the end of next year would be enough time to make us warm for a new GTA

@Kingsora Yes it would have been stupid maybe 4 years ago but Rockstar and Take Two are pumping out other fantastic open world games. They do not need to any more because these games sell really well. They seem to have move to a longer development cycle making sure the games are great.

I enjoyed gta iv but it was a bit too "serious" but the DLC left a good impression of what the next GTA would be like so im looking forward to a new GTA very soon
and a new midnightclub :)

GTA 5 will debut on next gen consoles. Look at GTA 4, the problem it had on consoles is that they strong enough that they were expectex to build a much more complex and populated city than they could do on previous consoles, but they arent quite strong enough to pull it off while maintaining a HD resolution, AA, or a stable frame rate.

Oh heaven how many times do I have to say it? GTA V will be released next year. The guy whose resume leaked pics of Agent shows the games he worked on while at Rockstar. One of those games mentioned was GTA V. Now he was at Rockstar from 2005-2009. This means that GTA V has been in development since at least 2009. Also, he puts the release date beside each game. Beside Agent, he put "TBA" and beside GTA V, he puts "2011". The only logic to this is that when he was at Rockstar, they had planned to release GTA V in 2011 but had not yet decided on a release date for Agent. If they had planned on releasing GTA V in 2011, it must be far on in development now because guess what, it's 2011. This would back up what the other rumours stated. Now if it was originally going to be released in 2011, surely it won't release any later than fall 2012. GTA is the money maker for T2. We're approaching the end of this generation. Everything points to a 2012 release date for GTA V. I just don't know how some people can't see this. It is obvious that Agent is in parallel development and will likely release a year after GTA V.

If it's anything it better be surprises. Games we least expected to see or be announced. Reboots/resurrections of older franchises and not just HD collections of PS2 games (Great to hear about them but the ones we all want).

A great RPG game to bring back the life Sony has started with the PlayStation platform. More games (exclusives) coming from Microsoft and not that they are jumping into the Handheld gaming market to compete with Sony or Nintendo (While it's a great surprise, I just don't think we need another one).

I'm sure there is more.

I hope they give us some info concerning the status of FFVs13. I hope it is not cancelled. I would also like some info concerning the goodies that will be included in the Prestige edition of MW3. Maybe an announcement of GTAV w/ location (fingers crossed for next gen Vice City), and end the press conference with teaser of GOWIV

We get an exact release date for the PS Vita. Here we do so with a date and more than a 'early 2012'. -- Possibly.

We learn what first party games from Sony certainly are scheduled for release PS Vita. So one day games will be available for the PS Vita. -- Probably

There will be a big announcement made in connection with the game Starhawk. An announcement that we would not expect. -- PC compatibility?

EA will announce a new Syndicate game made by Starbreeze. -- Likely.

Battlefield 3 will be playable on consoles first. -- Probably.
