Assassin's Creed: Perfect 10/10 in GamesRadar Review

From GamesRadar's review:
"With its riveting story, beautiful visuals and surprisingly lifelike world, Assassin's Creed is an incredibly deep, enjoyable game that kept us addicted from beginning to bizarre end. It's bogged down by a lot of monotonous repetition and a fighting system that's sure to frustrate hack-and-slash fans, but neither of those things really diminished our enjoyment of the game, and both were far outweighed by the thrill of tearing around its enormous cities and carefully planning spectacular assassinations. It might not be for everyone, but playing through Assassin's Creed still stands as one of the most outstanding gaming experiences of 2007."

Awesome. Kudos to GamesRadar for the great review and score. Assassins IS 10/10. God, I can't wait anymore.

jcgamer6020d ago

hey, the wait was worth it man, that's all that counts...and nice find AGAIN...I think you found all the AC reviews, Game Informer, GamePro, and GamesRadar...bubbles up for that...game on bro

MK_Red6020d ago

Hey thanks :)
I didn't find the Game Informer review but wish I had (Will keep looking for more AC reviews) . Thanks again bro.
Game on.

spec_ops_comm6020d ago (Edited 6020d ago )

I really disagree with a 10/10 score. Don't get me wrong - I can't wait for AC; but if a game is "bogged down with a lot of monotonous repitition", then surely it isn't a perfect game.

I find that game reviewers are far too liberal with handing out perfect scores. It's incredibly misleading, and should be so hard to attain that only once or every 1-2 years, a truly deserving game gets the perfect score.

Guitar Hero 3, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy... The list of perfect scores goes on and on and on...

BenzMoney6020d ago

What's your deal man? It seems like you always take such a strong stance on games before you've even played them or they've been released. You're either praising games, using phrases like, "I LOVE..." or you're hating on game, using phrases like, "I HATE..."

What's up with that? It's not like you have any personal experience with the games to be founding these statements on. It's like you've made an emotional investment in the game before you've even played the thing.

You praise reviewers for giving high scores to games you 'love' (despite the fact that you've never seen the game in person, or played the game yourself) and you condemn them for giving bad scores to games you 'love' (again, despite your lack of personal experience with the game).

I don't get it.

You were rambling on and on about how Bioshock deserves a 10/10 before the game was even released! Same with this game. Same with lots of games! And you haven't even PLAYED them yet!

...just something I noticed. I don't see how someone can hold such strong opinions of something they have absolutely zero personal experience with.

Very few games truly deserve a 10/10. I'm glad you're not a reviewer, because from the sounds of things, you pre-judge everything.

MK_Red6020d ago

Who said I'm don't know about these games or haven't seen them? The thing is, working for a local game magazine has some advantages and the best one IMO is the when you get to see and try some of the hottest upcoming games.

If you had seen or played BioShock at E3, you would have praised it and loved it as much as I do and did before it came out and the final game was 10/10 worthy IMO.

The same goes for Assassin's I can't even begin to descirbe how much effort is put into this game and how fun it is. I'm not a big industry insider but do get my share of fun and stuff :)

Also, when I praise games like BioShock and Mass Effect, it is because I've seen previous works of their devs and in case of those 2 games, all previous works have been AAA games. Irrational (Former...) made excellent SWAT4, Tribes: Vengence and Freedom Force. All AAA games and I don't even need to mentioned BioShock's main designer has worked on classics like System Shock 2 and Thief.
Mass Effect's BioWare has biggest number of games in the best RPGs of all time list. Baldur's Gate 2 is basically considered by some one of the top 3 best RPGs ever created (I prefer Black Isle's Fallout 1&2). BioWare's Neverwinter Nights also won every possible award its year. Same goes for KOTOR. Even Jade Empire was a great game and got 9.9/10 from IGN. I even loved BioWare's non-RGP game MDK2.
So when I see those games, try them and see their history, I have more than enough reasons to praise them and love them so madly.

As for the ones that I hate, WiiFit is on top of my hate list and I have good reason. You REALLY need to try it. It was by far the farthest and most boring experience me or any of my friends and co-workers had in our life time and I have seen many crappy games since Atari 64 and NES... . Even our old and Nintendo loving editor-in-chief was seriously disappointed after he tried WiiFit in a behind closed doors session.

Yes, I do love and hate some games before their are out but I have pretty good reasons. Some times my reasons have been wrong and I made mistakes but I usally only talk about stuff that I've seen and checked.

Sony arrogantly didn't secure this game and allowed Microsoft to tap in. Great news for gamers in general, but this is just a reminder of Sony's flawed decision making this generation and with the lack of AAA games it's had recently, this would have been a welcome additional to the Exclusivity ranks.

jackdoe6020d ago

Sounds like someone feels a burn of a certain US demo. Anyway, Sony did commit a big fubar by not securing this title as at least a timed exclusive.

mesh16020d ago

stop mixxing project assasins to assasins cred as they were totaly defferent games with defferent nams sony never had this gam as exclusive only to blind fanbos that think a conept game is a real game.

ThaGeNeCySt6020d ago (Edited 6020d ago )

wow... and the great reviews keep pouring in.... this is where my credit card begins it's surge into everlasting debt... COD4.. Assassin's Creed... Mass Effect... Kane & Lynch.... SMH!!!! Imagine if I had the PS3.. i'd have to add Uncharted & Ratchet to that list... omg

Skerj please don't comment, i cringe anytime I see your avatar... I HATE GRAND L. BUSH

MK_Red6020d ago

Agreed. I'm already broke yet haven't even bought PS3 and Wii to worry about their games (Though I'm getting Wii sooner because of Zack & Wiki and Super Mario Galaxy).

Skerj6020d ago (Edited 6020d ago )

:D How'd you know I was gonna appear here? One week left, the anticipation is agonizing. I've worked it out to purchasing 1 game a week at the rate of 10 bucks aside per day. ..and on the 7th day I rest. I'm changing the avatar as soon as I find something more awesome and fear inducing as Balrog/Grand L Bush from the SF movie.

solar6020d ago

why does god hate gamers this november? subject us to all these great games...make us pick and choose what we wanna spend money on...make us broke....have our women hate us cuz we game and not spend money on them....::angrily fists pumps at the heavens::

MK_Red6020d ago

Good one.
I actually think God loves us but sadly or thankfully all our prayers for great games in years were answered in one single month. Seriously, number of true AAA games in this month is more than all AAA games of last few years combined.
Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, Zack & Wiki, COD4, BioShock, Orange Box, UT3, Uncharted... it's an ambush :)

tocrazed4you6020d ago

You guys know that this game wasn't announced for the ps3 first it was announced for the xbox 360 in 2005 a year before the announcement on the ps3. It was first announced as project assassin for the xbox 360 so it was already in development for the xbox 360.

ThaGeNeCySt6020d ago

I thought it was announced as PS3 exclusive when it was under the name Project Assassin

Can We Finally Admit Assassin's Creed 3 Deserves an Apology?

AC3 was released during a turbulent transition period for Ubisoft and the Assassin's Creed series. It ventured into uncharted territory, narratively and mechanically, which caused it to receive mixed reviews. At its core, though, it's a damn good stealth game.

Nope, I hated 3, connar was bland, literally the most flat character in the entire game. Not to mention to myriad of bugs, camera issues, and that annoying thing where he automatically ditches his weapon you payed for for the sake of a cool finishing move forcing you to trek back to your base after almost every encounter just to re-equip your own weapon. It just didn't work as fluidly as the others like 2 and 4

Samonuske204d ago

The series peaked at AC3 for me. It’s been my favourite in the series. Connor will always be one of my favourite video game protagonists.

Becuzisaid204d ago

No. Game was BORING. Connor was really dull. Environments, while impressive, because of the geographic location and time period were not really exciting to be in. I would love some kind of game set in there colonial American time period, but a game like AC that back then centered around parkour and vertical traversal really didn't fit those environments.

-Foxtrot204d ago

Nope

There was a lot of issues but mine is how they handled the war

They told us Connor was not going to get involved, that the war was more of a background setting for the real story and it wasn’t going to be one sided

They lied, even the cinematic E3 trailer showed Connor emerge from the Colonist side and slaughter the red coats to get to his target, inspiring the Colonists to fight back

I just thought it would have made more sense lore wise that the red coats were mostly compiled of Assassins fighting the Colonist templars who wanted to take the new world for themselves.

Since the Red coats lost the war, it would then explain how the Templars started to gain the upper hand and how on the future the assassins were mostly killed off and the Templar’s had pretty much taken over everything.

Instead it just felt like they didn’t want to p*** off the American audience

Even Haytham was cool, he should have been an Assassin through and through and should have been the main lead.

toxic-inferno204d ago

The game even seems to lack the humour of the other games. It almost seems as though the idea of even slightly making fun of American history wouldn't be acceptable.

-Foxtrot204d ago

Exactly

It just felt super safe

“Better not make the colonists look super bad incase people boycott our game”

jeromeface203d ago

someone missed the whole point

-Foxtrot203d ago

There was literally no point

What I've just said above would at least make sense lore wise and why the Assassins start to loose their war, die off and how the Templars are in control in the future of almost everything....what they did was just, pointless

CrimsonWing69204d ago

I’m one one of those weird people that liked Ass Creed 3, but to be fair I never got around to finishing it.

GhostScholar215d ago (Edited 215d ago )

I disagree that max is unlikable. Chloe is infinitely more unlikable in my opinion.

gold_drake215d ago

omg chloe was awful. i really hated her at the end haha

Cacabunga215d ago

Abby was absolute trash protagonist in every way..
Tidus was so meh to me..
On villain side, the one i didn’t like wa Micah, because they wanted him to be that way and it was brilliant👍🏽

Rancegamerx215d ago

I agree, I liked Max, Chloe was a horrible friend and a bad influence.

Cacabunga214d ago

Everyone agrees on chloe, I’m sure even ND do.

H9215d ago

Both are horrible, granted Chloe is infinitely worse, it feels like Chloe is just fanservice for people who too over the edge and wasn't written to be a character that makes sense

GooGobbler215d ago

What about that Forspoken Tw*t

MrChow666215d ago

exactly I was expecting it to be a the top of the list

ravens52215d ago

Ye I was expecting her too. Guess they actually played the game. Unlike you and whoever agrees.

gpimlott214d ago

I played through the whole game and think she is one of the worst character Ive ever played as

ravens52214d ago (Edited 214d ago )

gpimlott. How?

Stanjara204d ago

Why would I payed and played the game if the whole internet is making fun of a character?

-Im here to kill Chaos...are you Chaos?

Yeah, I didn't play that game either.

Christopher215d ago (Edited 215d ago )

She's actually not bad. It's the writing itself that is bad overall, but she's fine overall. She's no worse than Miles Morales IMHO. Both thrust into a spotlight and receiving both praise and blame and dealing with it.

Forspoken is a bland game because it's 75% bland, boring, repetitive going through the motions and diversions that add nothing of the value with purposefully gated memory moments that don't feel organic or like you're discovering things but waiting for others to reveal things.

ravens52214d ago

Exactly Chris. Even though I liked the game. I kno u played it. People who actually played it and went thru her dream saw she was a good likeable person who really just acted out due to being alone and unloved. I think your problem is it was open world, I think if it was more linear you may have liked it better.

savedsynner214d ago

Oh no she's bad. Very unlikable even before you add on the bad dialogue. The game could have been quite good with a good protagonist

ravens52214d ago

For all the people like synner. Shes actually half white lol. Inferior complexity is a hell of a thing. You'll be ok.

Nerdmaster215d ago

Most of these aren't even that bad. Especially comparing to others like Squall "Whatever" Leonhart, Forspoken's Frey, and the guy from Atomic Heart.

-Foxtrot215d ago

Squall is one of the best developed main FF characters so...

People talk about his "whatever" thing thats at the start of the game, not the character he eventually becomes in the end.

Nerdmaster214d ago

No amount of "character development", (especially the ones that for me feels sudden and undeserved like Squall's), will justify him being a d**k to my girl Quistis. Even if he found the cure for cancer, from that moment on, I would never like him.
The article is about being unlikeable, and he was indeed unlikeable for at least half of the game.

BrainSyphoned215d ago

Squall is the best protagonists in FF so you can go whatever yourself.

H9215d ago

My good sir, I need to steal that "you can go whatever yourself" because it's gold

BlaqMagiq1215d ago

Except Squall has actual character development.

gold_drake215d ago (Edited 215d ago )

the "watever" is only present in the english localisation.
so your argument doesnt rly ... stand imo.

Nerdmaster214d ago

Good for you that you could enjoy the japanese version. That's not the case for me and the majority of people here, though.
