Rocksteady is “Amazed” by How Arkham City Looks On Current Gen Consoles

RipTen: Batman: Arkham City is shaping up to be bigger and better than it’s predecessor in every way. That means story, gameplay, and of course… graphics.

theonlylolking4664d ago

I thought it looked the same as the first one.

Batmau54664d ago

Likewise, but the areas seem more vast as a tradeoff.

MaxXAttaxX4664d ago

Looks like a game running on the Unreal engine to me.
In other words, the same LOL

dangert124664d ago

funny thing is it does not look better then the best xbox game or best ps3 game visually still they are surprised by current gen consoles? lol ok

ElementX4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

Well, Rocksteady has only produced one game in addition to Batman and that's Urban Chaos last gen. It's amazing what they've accomplished for not having the experience

dangert124664d ago

should't they be surprised with the themself and not consoles then?

Ducky4664d ago

... isn't ArkhamCity more open than the best-looking 360/ps3 game?

dangert124664d ago

@FatOldMan
I don't no never played it but its not like any of the games that allow good exploration on ps3 even begin to push its visuals well none of seen

HardCover4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

Let 'em be excited about it.

SephirothX214664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

UC, KZ and GOW are great franchises but are all corridor games and extremely linear. Thus great graphics in a more open game such as Arkham City is more impressive.

ProjectVulcan4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

It looks great. I have been replaying the PC version of Arkham Asylum with nvidia 3D vision and physx enabled- its actually one of the best looking games ever when you take into account the quality of the 3D mode on PC(it has a nearly perfect stereoscopic mode), truly breathtaking and an epic experience.

If this is only a small improvement on AA with the size of the areas and the same level of 3D vision quality on PC it'll be one of the most immersive games you could play on any platofrm.

Iroquois_Pliskin4664d ago

@sephiroth

Infamous 2 is open world and it looks very good

@ Iroquois

Your point being?

Taker4Ever4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

agreed
they should play Uncharted games
or god of war 3
or killzone or gears 3 or INF2
and then they will be “Amazed”

evrfighter4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

Uncharted is not open like certain city will be. God of war may as well have been a side scroller. Bad comparisons. If what I'm reading is correct its going to be borderline sandbox with arkham asylum graphics

Still not enough to get wowed over imo

Taker4Ever4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

@evrfighter
God of war .. a side scroller ???
i know you are a 360 only gamer
thats why you don't know any thing about gow games
it has fixed camera
but the scale of this game and the gfx are incredible nothing
i have ever seen on consoles can match it but killzone/uncharted
it looks like a movie

palaeomerus4664d ago

GoW3 has a fixed camera. The supposed "scale" of the game is just when that camera is zoomed out. A big guy who takes up most of the screen with a little tiny guy hanging on his face is NOT that hard to do. Nor are the graphics incredible. They only look nice when nothing much else is on the screen and get a lot less detailed when there is a lot on the screen. It has a lot of back drops that you can't even go towards. It's all tricks not power.

4664d ago
Imalwaysright4664d ago (Edited 4664d ago )

If GOW didnt have a fixed camera it would hinder gameplay like in Ninja Gaiden. Getting killed from behind on Ninja Gaiden because i didnt know that the enemy was there makes me want to smash my controller.

4664d ago
IcarusOne4663d ago

It's amazing how badly you boys need GoW3 to be loved and respected by everyone. You try way too hard.

On-topic: Rocksteady earned my loyalty and praise with Arkham Asylum. Such a beautiful game, well written, gorgeous gameplay, phenomenal atmosphere. A true joy to play and the type of experience that destroys any and all notions that the best games exist as only as exclusives.

McCullster4664d ago

The amount of detail they are putting into the game (same if not more detail) and having it a fairly large open world is awesome. I'm just sad the Collector's Edition sucked.....

KING_KAI4664d ago

there is still some juice left in the consoles yet

Mr Patriot4664d ago

BF3 says Hi, consoles are dead, you will not see any better looking game than UC3 till PS4

KING_KAI4664d ago

year after year better looking games come out on both 360 and ps3. fair enough both systems are 100% utilized but as we have seen, fine tuning leads to wonderful things.

4664d ago
Brownghost4663d ago

uncharted is just a visual trick and not what the ps3 can do just a bunch smoke and mirrrors in my opinion

The Arkham games are largely excellent, a shame they are being followed up by that god awful looking suicide squad game.

RaidenBlack199d ago

All 4 Arkham games are just amazing...
With the Gotham Knights turning out sub par, hope the Suicide Squad fails as well... So that both Rocksteady and WB Montreal goes back to creating good single player DC games ...
A batman beyond game maybe?

anal_vegan_moans198d ago

Having the game fail would make it harder for them to get funding for their next game, please don't wish this on them. They already delayed the game a whole year after backlash, so we still have to wait and see how it will turn out.

GhostScholar198d ago

I think asylum and origins were great. City was good. Knight was horrible.

Ezio2048199d ago

You can't expect a game to match 96-94 meta apple for apple. Different era and different gen. No need to diminish either game's achievement. Arkham City and Spiderman 2 are both amazing sequels that improved upon their already incredible first parts.

Tacoboto199d ago

To back that up, there are major websites that adjusted their review scales.

IGN used to have a 100 point system; now it's a 10 point system. I remember GameSpot back in 2004 was razed for giving Halo 2 a 9.4 when IGN gave it like a 9.7 or 9.8

darthv72199d ago

Arkham Asylum was great, but when City came out... wow what a total overhaul that was. Nothing has had that type of night/day difference in scope and scale since.

SM2 is looking to be a great game in itself. Definitely an upgrade over the previous entries. Just from the opening battle with sandman, it gives me god of war 2 vibes with how that one opened with the battle with colossus of rhodes. That is still one of my favorite sequels of all time.

Zeke68198d ago

Thanks for the spoiler how the game starts loser...

darthv72198d ago

Zeke... you've had plenty of time to play god of war 2.

GaboonViper199d ago

And right on cue, here comes the downplaying of Insomniacs masterpiece, not gonna work, this game is gonna be beast in success.

BehindTheRows199d ago

From the same folks who gave it a 10/10 no less.

Aloymetal199d ago

'' here comes the downplaying of Insomniacs masterpiece''
You know that train is never late.

I got 80% trophy completion on Ragnarok but left a few of the battles. Will come back to it one day.

Miraak82 306d ago

Dragon Quest 11 is my top pick

RpgSama306d ago

Dragon Quest XI was such an AMAZING game, I had a blast from the very beginning all the way to the very end, it actually got better the more you played, full of surprises as well.

Another game that I enjoyed from the very beginning all the way to the end of the 100% completion was Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Really, really, really fun game with a great heartfelt story.

badz149306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

Where is Horizon Zero Dawn?? where is Ghost of Tsushima?? I just got my Platinum on HZD and is now trying to finish the Frozen Wild expansion. so much care and love went into that game and it really shows. I especially adore the lore and have sunk many hours listening to the logs and reading journals. the back story is great and the gameplay is awesome. can't wait to replay on the hardest difficulty on NG+. next in my list would be to finish GoTsushima

Tacoboto306d ago

Ghost was fantastic especially after Iki Island and the PS5 upgrade. 100%'d that, Horizon Forbidden West (not ZD), GoW (not yet Ragnarok), Spider-Man, and R&C: Rift Apart.

Each one absolutely worth it.

Aloymetal306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

100% I would like to add to you list RDR2, amazing as well and the perks from getting the Legend Of The East outfit is awesome.
Sekiro as well, have to play twice to get it but it's worth it!

Demetrius306d ago

I agree I'm on my 2nd playthroughs of both horizon forbidden West(zero dawn I played also) ghost of Tsushima except I'm replaying it on PS5 this time, the iki island expansion is amazing

ClayRules2012306d ago

Yeah, GoT was already an AMAZING game on PS4, but playing it on PS5, along with that expansion, just even better.

Elda306d ago

I just started my copy of GOW:R, enjoying it so far.

DefenderOfDoom2306d ago (Edited 306d ago )

Okay the title of article should be top 10 , 3rd person games to complete 100 percent. Nine 3rd person games and 1 racing game on this list .
