You might also benefit from checking out news stations in other countries like the BBC (far from perfect, but compared to the awful US "news" stations, it is a massive improvement). The US corporate news is horrible and isn't telling you about some crucial issues.

You're gonna have to give some very good evidence for the assertion that innocent civilians are being specifically targeted because that is a massive claim... bombings of civilians may have happened, most probably by accident, but I don't think it is the normal tactics used.

I have used mechanically acurate simulators for flying, combat, and driving. All of them had extreme sensitivity and abnormal conditions puposely built into them designed to measure response and coordination. I have countless hours like many of you all do in modern warfare series. It at no point moving just my thumbs and fingers prepared me mentally, or physically to do 10% of the acts this nut did. He killed 87 people with small arms and seven or more with a fertalizer, diesel fuel bomb similar to timothy mcveigh's Oklahoma terrorist attack.

Now, do any of you feel you are capable of aiming a real firearm at a real unarmed defenseless person (child, young adult) and systematically murdering any of them based solely on your experience in modern warfare? Or planting an explosive device in a buisness district with the intent of mass killing based on anything seen and done in modern warfare. I wouldn't. I would not feel confident to see it as training, especially when I have had training in the military.

On the topic of MW2...this guy was 30 yrs old when MW2 came out. It would seem that he is working towards some sort of bizarre " the games made me do it " plea in court...it won't work. This was premeditated, cold blooded murder and he will no doubt face multiple 1st degree murder charges and if they don't have the death penalty there, he will never taste freedom again.

I also believe he did not act alone. He was some sort of hunter, meaning he had access to weapons and knew how to use them. As much as I hate gametrailers TV, they've had a series on combat facts and fiction and nearly everything depicted in MW2 is fiction and not realistic. So tell me how that's a training simulator.

It's absolutely awful what happened here and this guy will rot in jail (if they don't have the death penalty) and rightfully so. However, I just don't see how the game has anything to do with this. I've always said that it's people who drum up the nerve to kill another person, not video games. And a game that doesn't have much of a realistic bone in it's body certainly isn't gonna help someone handle a wespon or anything.

I haven't followed much of this story but if he truly was trained by the Norwegian army (they have one?), that's what assisted him in this act, not a damn video game.

Do I believe that games can desensitize people? Absolutely....to a certain extent it's desensitized me to virtual violence but it would be impossible for me to even point a gun at a child or anyone for that matter that was innocent. I know how to shoot a gun but as long as your not threatening me or my family, I have no interest to use it on people.
