Thoughts On Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team

Relic Entertainment (Dawn of War II),(this is Relic's first shooter game, they specialize in RTS games) really botched up this one.Its coming out the same day Resistance 3 and Gears of War 3 are coming out. Both console exclusives for the PS3 and 360 respectively and both AAA games. I just see this being a sleeper hit and wish they'd release it a few weeks sooner because the more the wait, the more they draw closer to the end of the year launch titles and this game will end up getting forgotten about.

Are you talking about Space Marine or Kill Team? Because i'm having a hard time figuring out which. Kill Team came out on XBLA a couple weeks ago and Space Marine is the game out in September.

Space Marine is slated for September 6, 2011. But I do agree w/ the assessment it's a terrible launch window for Relic and THQ. Everything I've seen from it so far looks great - like a excellent mix between GOW's melee system and Gears' brutal weaponry.

Dumb article written by someone who is obviously doesn't know much about what they are trying to talk about.

Kill Team = $10 downloadable game out now.

40K Space Marine = 3rd person shooter/action game coming out in September with a much bigger budget.

Why make noise about AAA competition like that means anything? Resistance is not a particularly strong selling series whether it is a AAA project or not. The last one barely sold about 2 million copies. Why it's mentioned with Gears of War 3 is anyones guess because both Gears of war titles hit 6 million + units in sales.

Also Resistance is an FPS where Gears of War and 40K Space Marine ate TPS. Both Gears of War and Resistance are exclusive to one console. Warhammer 40K is not. It's just a really dumb pointless comparison.

Ever hear of the Games Workshop 'Warhammer/40K brand? It's pretty much what Blizzard directly based most of their properties on. It's probably significantly more well known than Resistance ever will be and might be a bigger brand than Gears of War.

Warhammer/40K sells lines of novels, miniatures, comics, audio-plays, collectable card games, board games, rpg's, and video games including MMO's. That doesn't mean that it will necessarily sell big in the video game market (prior titles like Warhammer Battle March didn't, but Dawn of War and Dawn of War 2 both did quite well. Previously there was a fairly bad FPS called Fire Warrior, some Strategy video games like Chaos Gate, Shadow of the Rat, Rites of War, Space Crusade, and earlier video game versions of the board game Space Hulk. Blood Bowl is a Fantasy (American rules)Football board game based on the Warhammer universe.

The point is that Warhammer/40K is not some unknown thing just entering the marketplace for the first time.

Spartan: Total Warrior - Before Dark Souls, There was Sparta

Spartan: Total Warrior launched back in 2005, with an aggressive-but-fair agenda for its combat not dissimilar to the Souls series.

This game was so fucking good. It's legit one of my all time favorite games. I wish they'd make another (Vikings was mid) or remake this one. Probably won't happen, but one can dream.

I don’t collect games for their value I collect games I enjoyed playing. Many games I own are worth a lot of money but they must be games I want to play for me to purposely collect them. Most of this list isn’t games I would enjoy. I may have some of these games because I bought my friends PS2/3 Collection years ago and I never actually looked what was in it. It was a couple hundred games though still sitting in a box and I’m sure there are some good valuable games. I should go sift through it sometime.

I tend to agree for the most part rarity is linked to price
It's unusual that a rare game was popular with a few notable exceptions. Games released at the tail end of a consoles lifecycle which became popular years or decades later like little Samson on the NES or earthbound on SNES.
Or games that were banned after release in certain regions

Looking at this list there's nothing I'd be trying to collect either most of these games were fairly unpopular and bashed on their release leading to the scarcity seen now.
Especially NBA elite which I remember actually watching the news about how it got cancelled but had already shipped to retail it was so bad .

I still have Afrika. Who knew it’d be worth something?

Was unaware that Verdict Day was rare, glad I still own my copy. Game is very good.

She forgot to mention Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Wizard's Edition with Ninostarter bonuses. This is the second or third most expensive PS3 game, and I own a sealed copy.
