It's sad that Square hasn't been able to make a worthy follow up to Secret of Mana. Legend of Mana was good but nowhere near the scale of Secret. The other Mana games are shameful in comparison.

I still think that the closest thing to a sequel was Secret of Evermore. Although that game isn't as good due to the lack of coop.

Not just co-op. It was missing a certain charm that made Secret of Mana so great. Evermore was still cool though. I don't know why square doesn't make another action RPG like these two with fluidly animated hand drawn art. They came so close with Legend of Mana but the world felt too small and the combat was dull.

Instead of making FFXIII sequels and crap, just put this game on a ps3 disk, box it up, and ship it to stores ftw.
