Yeah I had a God of War level in Lbp aswell. Didn't bother with God of War 3 after that.

Also to the people below saying it ain't worth 15, no linear game less that 10 hours is worth full price...like ugh, how about ugh God of war 3? No replay value. Doesn't mean the quality is bad. If you want to get it then do. Tis a good game for a puzzle platformer(ish) with good gameplay and a unique style and freeky world

fei-hung4671d ago

With all respect, your analogy is crap as Limbo level in LBP has more similarities than the GoW level in LBP to GOW the game.

LBP and LIMBO - platformers
GoW - hack and slash

the point being made above you is simple - how can anyone charge so much for a year old psn game considering you have clones of the game for free on lbp which look and play simiarly.

frostypants4671d ago

The LBP Limbo level is not a viable substitute for the real thing. It's fun and looks cool, but it's still not really Limbo and doesn't have the feel.

Let's stop pretending that "tribute" levels in LBP (or any other build-your-own level game) are anything more than fun curiosities.

MrBeatdown4671d ago (Edited 4671d ago )

@fei-hung

Clones of Limbo in LBP are not Limbo. If they were good enough, people shouldn't be complaining about the price, because they wouldn't even need the game to begin with.

Plus, it's not a year old on PS3. Age doesn't make it any less of a game than it was a year ago on 360 where it's still $15 on XBL. If someone thinks a better deal can be found elsewhere, they should buy that. But the only "deal" out there for people who want Limbo on PS3, is the three game pack on disc for 360 which runs for $20.

To me, it seems rather ridiculous that people would find the differences between platforms important enough to justify waiting a year for the version they want, then act like platform is irrelevant when it comes to release date and determining pricing, and simultaneously expect it to be CHEAPER than the other version.

It's hypocrisy two times over.

If you don't want to pay $15 for it, cool, but don't act like it isn't a fair price.

Jonah_Reese4671d ago

@redDeaddestroyer
GoW3 had no replay value? So that's why I replayed it 3 times? Nice to know.

NeoTribe4671d ago

ok i love lbp but playing a lbp god of war level is NOTHING like the true god of war. Quit kiddin urself.

Yeah I was actually shocked at the price... I was already to pick this one up at $9.99 which is what it should have been..

but $14.99 for a year old puzzle game, Really? wtf?

I played the demo and it was cool, but not 14.99 cool... hell I paid less for the Tomb Raider: Guardian Of Light PSN game and that game is three times more awesome then LIMBO..

In-fact if you didn't get that I recommend that one over limbo any day of the week..

csreynolds4671d ago

$14.99?? Holy cow that's pricey...

Might have to check out the LBP Limbo level Prcko refers to instead. Sounds interesting.

Yi-Long4671d ago

... waited for it to drop to 600 MSP on a daily/weekly deal, and I was right in doing so.

It's a nice game, but for me it wouldn't have been worth 1200 MSP. 600/800 points is more than enough for a short single-player puzzle-platformer with very little replay-value.

SilentNegotiator4671d ago

$15 for a game you can easily beat in 3 hours and then doesn't have the slightest bit of replay value ("Oh look! The same thing that had my heart pounding before! Oh look! A puzzle I know exactly how to solve!").

Screw that.

AntoineDcoolette4671d ago

I'll agree $14.99 is a kick in the balls but ***** I'm tired of generic military shooter # 3965, generic sci-fi themed game #9643, or generic medieval fantasy RPG # 12586

I dropped the $15 on this visually unique splendor.

Nitrowolf24671d ago

I was expecting $10 to. I'll wait for a price cut

danielle0074671d ago

There hasn't even been a price cut on the 360. There have been sales, sure, and even a bundle, but the actual game of Limbo is still 1200 M$ points.

The prices on download-only titles do not drop anywhere near the rate that the retail prices do. Because, they honestly don't have to. They don't really have competition.

TheDivine4671d ago

I wouldve bought it for 10 also, not buying even for 12 with ps plus. Il wait for a sale or buy on pc down the road. I heard its well worth the money i mean its the same price as going to the movies, not alot but when borderlands plus all dlc is 15 sitting right next to limbo for 12, theres no way.

KMCROC4671d ago

It not really an old game when it comes to being on PS3, now on the other console it's considered old.

Glad I'm a Plus member - $11

CernaML4671d ago

Still pretty pricey though. But I bought it anyway. lol

Seventh_Blood_Reborn4671d ago

Me too. Plus price is reasonable. Here is 10,25 Euro, a little bit high, but good enough, this is great game.

B_Rian894671d ago

i am too but that's still too high for a game so short. I was expecting $7-8 after Plus discount. it sucks because I really want to play it but I think I'll wait for a price drop...if i dont cave in and buy now that is

Raven_Nomad4671d ago

1200 MS points is $15. So I'm not sure what all the complaining is about. It's the exact same price as it was when it was on the 360 last year.

I spent a lot of time with the game last year and it's an absolute blast. One of the best arcade titles ever. You could complain about the price or decide not to buy a Big Mac for a day and buy one of the best puzzle/platform games of the last decade.

gamingdroid4671d ago (Edited 4671d ago )

I think the issue now, it is a year old game that can be had less elsewhere on a very similar platform.

I can see why it was priced like that, who the heck would know what MS is doing with their prices in advance. Only the creator of Limbo is likely to know it....

harrisk9544671d ago (Edited 4671d ago )

I agree with you.... bottom line is that it is a new game on PSN. There are development and marketing costs that go into the production and release of a new game, whether it appears on another platform or not. People didn't gripe (too much) when Mass Effect 2 was released on the PS3 for the full $60 price.

I bought it (with my PS+ discount) yesterday and I played through it in about 3 hours and loved it. It was challenging and different. LBP recreations are great, but they don't do justice to the originals. I played the LBP Limbo level and it is not the same.

That being said, it is the same price as a movie (actually, a movie is more money) and a movie is only 2 hours long. So, the value per hour is better with Limbo!

And, if you want to wait for a price drop... go for it! No one is stopping you... but why rain on the developer's parade. The most purchases of a game are made upon release. By the time the price drops, it will be off most people's radar. Not to mention the costs they have to pay Sony to put it on the PSN (or MS to put it on XBLA) The developer is entitled to make money on their game.

gamerz4671d ago

Agree with your point that a ported game has its own development costs, etc. However, it also matters that's it's a year old since it was first released. Mass Effect 2 is actually a great example since it sold 2.5M on 360 but only .5M on PS3 a year later.

danielle0074671d ago (Edited 4671d ago )

It's the exact same price as it is RIGHT NOW on the Xbox 360 marketplace. 1200 M$ points. Just checked today.

opoikl4671d ago

People usually don't hesitate to buy a pack of cigarettes or order in pizza, these things are expensive too but have nowhere near the value of Limbo.

I'm going to wait another 6 hours to play the game when it's dark. It's going to be awesome, and you can't put a price on that.

Gordo7894671d ago

yeah but I'm addicted to cigarettes!

Haha, jk I agree completely. I don't understand what all the hubbub is about here. It's the exact same value! Price is exactly the same as on XBLA.

It's now time for somebody to go up to Xbox Live Gold whilst it's fast asleep, then hold a pillow tight over its mouth until it stops breathing.

crazyCoconuts274d ago

This is game pass though. Doesn't seem that much better right now.

Profchaos274d ago

Looking at the quality of games mixing the two up in this case it's an easy mistake to make

BrainSyphoned274d ago

I forgot Everspace 2 released so I'm happy with this month.

Profchaos274d ago

Well I guess we know where all that gamepass money is going right into a giant s labelled bucket

ChasterMies274d ago

Microsoft is spending $70B on Activision. That doesn’t leave a lot left over for other AAA games.

monkey602274d ago

I've really wanted to play A Short Hike and Airborne Kingdom for a while now so it's cool they've been added but yeah I don't see this exciting the masses
