After debuting Rapid Angel and Yakiniku Bugyou last week on the PlayStation®Network, we’d like to present Kyuiin as a follow up to our gradually growing retro line-up here at MonkeyPaw Games. Since we started importing Japanese retro games onto the PlayStation®Network, the shoot ‘em-up category has been the most successful genre.
"Space fighters and heavily-armed mecha are overrated, especially when you have the utter destructive power of a.... vacuum cleaner??"

GP: "'Kyuiin'? What's a Kyuiin? Well, first off it's pronounced 'keen' and that is supposed to emulate the sound a vacuum cleaner makes. Okay, great, but what on earth does that have to do with anything? Kyuiin is a game which features a vacuum cleaner in a hugely important role. Released back in 1996 on Japanese PS1s, the game attempted to shake up the popular 2D shooter genre with something new.
It seems that they succeeded as it is probably the only game out there that had characters riding around on a flying vacuum. As creative as that may be, is the game any good?"
PixelPerfectGaming writes: Japanese games have a reputation for being strange. In the case of Kyuiin by Media Entertainment, nothing is sacred in this twisted fairy tale world of giant frogs and flying vampire nuns. As a young boy who pilots a vacuum cleaner, you must free your favorite fairy tale from an evil wizard.
