L.A. Noire Gets Lost In The Shadows

GameInformer's Matthew Kato: "Rockstar games are deservedly well known for their immersive worlds, but I think L.A. Noire missed an opportunity in this department."

bought this game n it was a huge mistake.the game is sooo boring in my opinion

Kran4684d ago

No freakin way.

Not game of the year IMO but its still a great game!

NukaCola4684d ago

I can really see how people can find this game boring, but as a huge fan of the Ace Attorney series and the noir game Hotel Dusk Room 217 on DS, I love lots of dialog and clues and evidence and what not.

I do with they gave you more reason to explore. The badge challenge is hard as hell with the badges just laying in a random spot like on a small desk in a corner of an office somewhere in the big city. The damn reels are impossible. I have jumped over almost every fence in the game and I have only found about 5 or 6. They are hidden like a champ.

deadoralive13374684d ago

It may get repetitive but overall it is a unique experience and it's definitely worth trying.

MysticStrummer4684d ago

I wish I hadn't bought it. I still haven't found the will to finish it.

OhMyGandhi4684d ago (Edited 4684d ago )

not a bad game but any stretch, but it is rather repetitive, and I wish the cases were a bit more interesting.
Noir is all about "sensationalizing" the news, but I never got that vibe playing the game.
A unique title for sure, and it mostly worked.
like deadoralive1337 said, anyone who hasn't played the game should certainly get it a try,

L.A NOIRE is one of the most insanely addictive and fun games of this gen

MysticStrummer4684d ago (Edited 4684d ago )

I strongly disagree. LA Noire wouldn't even make my Top 20. RDR and GTA4 both make that list though.

DeleteThisxx4684d ago

Agreed, I enjoyed my first few hours with L.A. Noire but afterwards I struggled to complete it due to myself having absolutely no care for the main character or the absolute repetitive nature of the title. Nice change of pace for gaming but there was so much more that could have and should have been done with the game instead of relying on the same formula throughout.

Hell, even the street crimes were extremely awesome at first but even those got tiring when it was simply "go to this destinatiom" - "kill these people" - "chase this person down." So much potential wasted, unfortunately.

Even though I'm not the biggest fan of GTAIV, I still enjoyed it. Don't even get me started on RDR, that game is definitely one of my favorite games this generation.

VoicesInMyHead4684d ago

idk man, it seems Rockstar's beating a dead horse with repeative GTA style gameplay TRUTH, DOUBT OR LIE PEOPLE...kinda dragging out at this point with the story so I might even get rid of it before I finish it (I even heard the ending sucks so I might not even bother)

Grip4684d ago

The Ending Was okay.. but u will see it coming in the last Episodes of the game.

eddvdm4684d ago

I liked but, as the author said, less than I wanted to. The biggest flaw was indeed the world around the cases. After playing each of the great GTA's and RDR (and even Bully), LA Noire is too much linear and really boring when you finally want to take a rest of the main 'quest'/cases.

Not to mention the order you get your promotions. By far I thought Homicide the most fun department you play, they should make a whole game only with Homicide cases (maybe one or another department inbetween). Vice is boring and Arson.. just awkward.

I liked the main plot and it was almost nostalgic (I've played lots of adventures titles in the past) with the obvious new interrogation twist which, if wasn't so ambiguous, it would be perfect.

I give it 7/10 and only regret buying it because it was by preorder, very expensive, but I would definitely buy it at today's prices.

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

Skuletor36d ago

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

Psychonaut8536d ago

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.

Demetrius35d ago

Mfs are too sensitive nowadays and would cry instead of being concerned bout real world problems

Demetrius35d ago

Whenever gta 6 launch we won't be getting another rockstar title for another 10 years lol but on the positive side they bou to come back n show how open world supposed to be done 🔥

Skuletor35d ago

I won't expect any singleplayer DLC like IV's The Lost & Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony after it launches either

12 Years Later, L.A. Noire is Still an Excellent Experience

There was a lot to love about Rockstar and Team Bondi's 2011 open world title.

One I never finished. I've been looking at the ps4 version off Amazon the last few months just never bit

Knightofelemia140d ago

It's worth playing LA Noire is one of my favorite Rockstar games. But I would also check out pawnshops or thrift stores if you want the game dirt cheap. Someone may have been dumb enough to dump the game.

andy85141d ago

Baffles me when people have these opinions about acclaimed games 😂

RhinoGamer88141d ago

100% agree... not perfect, but an engaging/refreshing experience.

sagapo141d ago

Agree, at time of release those facial expressions were amazing! They still hold strong even today imo.
The game on its own was good. Something fresh, but sidequests were a bit meh after a while.

Nacho_Z141d ago

I picked it up on sale recently, going to play it next summer. I'll get more out of it this time, first time around I treated the open world like it was GTA and goofed about, whereas now I'll play it with more respect. RDR2 has trained me well.

I also hadn't read Raymond Chandler at the time so presumably that'll add another layer of enjoyment too.

1nsomniac141d ago (Edited 141d ago )

Absolutely stunning game. So underrated. Played through it again last year and it still stands up so well. Like many of rockstars games it’s actually a far better experience on PC. I didn’t enjoy it as much on console. Completed it at least 3 times on pc.

The rumours of a sequel are awesome news despite the fact I think Rockstar are now the shell of the company they once were.

SyntheticForm141d ago

Team Bondi made a hell of a game.
