Gamocracy’s Legend of Robot Achieves Gold Status, Release Date Announced

The Bearded Ladies Consulting and the PlayStation Community have announced that their community designed Platform game, Legend of Robot, has gone gold and will be released on the European PlayStation Network on the 13th of July. Legend of Robot is the outcome of the Gamocracy project which was launched by The Bearded Ladies in February of this year, and invited PlayStation Community members to design and vote on ideas for all aspects the upcoming game.

TheSixthAxis Review: Gameocracy One: Legend Of Robot

TSA writes: "For the main hook of the game, H7 has a rather interesting in-built feature, and it’s certainly something Mario et al wouldn’t be able to replicate. He uses his head…literally. A press of a button sees H7 throw his head, which makes a rather effective weapon. Furthermore, if you press the button again whilst the head is in the air it will freeze in place, creating a platform to jump or bounce on.

It’s a fantastic idea, as there are hidden objects scattered throughout levels that you’ll only find if you create your own platform using your head. The level design is really well done, taking advantage of the range of skills on offer."

Legend of Robot Review—More Heads Are Better than None

Jasper Nikki from pspminis.com writes: For the first time in Minis history, a crowd-sourced game has risen. The Bearded Ladies hosted at the European PlayStation Blog and Community Forum an 8-week competition of stitching up an action-platformer. This event was called “Gamocracy.”

The foundations of this Legend of Robot are awesome. The community came up with excellent ideas, from the design of the player-controlled character to the very description of the game, from the creation of the multi-staged boss to the graffiti and ads filling the empty spaces. However, no matter how brilliant or poor (admittedly, I scoffed at the initial entries) the collective ideas are, the execution still belongs to the developers.
